I was really surprised that a search for "Pagoda" turned up only their ads. They've been around for just short of 40 years now. I am applying with them and know they were once good, then got a bad rap in the mid 1990s and don't know what they are like these days. Anyone worked there? Thanks! |

If you like working split shifts and long hours with relatively low pay in comparison to other places, than work for them.
If you want to earn more money and work less, don't work with them.
Bad reps. are hard to get rid of, why expect your experience would be any different? |

I have a friend who worked in the Gangnam branch who wasn't too satisfied with his experience. Split shift, no housing, low pay and Saturdays were his biggest problems. He was making around 2.2 and had to pay around 500k for his apartment which means he was making around 1.7 for six days of work and sleep deprivation during those days. |

my cousin wants me to work there because her friends have all worked there and still work there
but ive read a lot of bad reviews!
my cousin's ex used to work there 5 years ago and yeah they paid him $3000 cdn a month, but he struggled so much (that my aunt had to buy his groceries often) because they just paid him 3 grand a month and thats it. he was on his own for his health plan, his apartment, his flights and everything! |

I thought it was ok for the time. New teachers make something like 19,000 an hour (in2005) plus semiyearly raises. Add a 200-300k housing allowance and roughly 40k an hour for a good weekend class and it's not a bad deal. f you're doing the splits and weekends as well you should be making 3-3.5.
Spent 1 year at Gangnam and 2 at Jongro 2002-2005.
Then there's the factor of no kids; some like that as much as others hate the splits-not everyone does splits.
Even paying for his own apatment Jennzy if that guy couldn't get by on 3k somethings wrong. I supported a wife, a kid, a small apartment and paid off a student loan on 3k. |

If you wanna live close to your school and it's in an expensive place, then yeah, you could easily speak 700k a month in Seoul....possibly even more in Gangnam or Apgujeong.
Also, if it's a big place with maintenance costs, they could eat up 200-300.
Even then though, I'm surprised....Maybe he liked Korean style nightclubs and room salons.....alot |

Young girls entertain you while you drink $500 whisky. Sex optional for them; but expected and common. |

nah, i doubt it... he was very much in love with my cousin and i doubt he'd do stuff like that
from what i remember, he was a very polite and nice guy!
though i was mad at him when i was 9 because he didn't ask or gave me any whipped cream with my hot coco (he worked at the coffee shop when they met) |

Juicy girls....and first word of advice I received about Korean men(and many women here too)....they all cheat...
Unless they're ultra conservative christian, they all trying be playa at least from every single Korean guy I've met.
And to misquote my friend who's been married to a korean women for decades "they're all good girls/guys till ya get to know them". |
