Hi everyone, I am trying to change jobs but dono what to do. Ok the job I am working at the manager is trying to get me black listed. She did this by verbally terminating and expecting me not to come to work the next daybut I still did and told her if she wants to terminate she has to give me a letter of release. She is refusing to sign it and keeps tell me not to come to work. Anyways I am gonna wait till the end of this week and call the police if she still refuses. But now there is another question. I have the passport with me does that mean she cant cancel my visa and I can work at a new school on her visa (thats what my recruiter said)? Secondly, I am trying to change my single-entry status to re-entry do I need her permission to change my status? On the immigration website it said that I need her permission to change this status but since my manager and I are not on a positive note I am sure she will not change my statuswhat should I do? What I could do is ask her to cancel my visa, that way when I find a new school I can do a japan visa run and get a reentry status all at once. What do you guys think? HELP!

You don't need the school to approve your visa status. You can get them at the airport or your local office for 30000 or 50000 for multiple.

No you don't need them to approve, just change it at the airport when you travel.

No your boss does not need your passport to cancel your visa ... immigration will simply do it on their system ... And you will have trouble when you ty to leave the country ... and if it is after the time allowed after the cancellation you will be fined ... You would be very unwise to rely on her not being able to cancel it ... In any case you can definitely not work for anyone else on her visa ... And I would stay away from any recruiter who tole me that I could do that ... It is you not them who will be in trouble if you are caught trying to do that ...

Ok so your advise is to get a letter of release ask her t o cancel my visa. Since I can stay in Korea for 30 days after my visa cancelation can I work in my new school during the 30 days? This school that I am leaving hired me for 15 days with pay on my travellers visa and then sent me to japan for a visa run for e2. how long does it take to cancel the visa? can I work the very next day after my visa has been canceled at a new school?
Thank you.

Without a letter of release, you are not allowed to even apply for a new visa until your current one expires. OR, if she actively removes her sponsorship of your visa, in which case you will be required to leave the country and reapply for a new visa. It sounds like she will be difficult about everything, if you have a contract, you can always try to contact your local labor board.

Ok I got the letter of release and Feb 20 is my last day at this school. What should i do if on the last day I am given a fraction of my pay? my boss tried to screw me over in many was I am sure that on my last day she will try something new. I think if she gives me less than what she is suppose to I will call the police...i know the police cant do anything but atleast the schools reputation will be at risk...from what ive heard hagwons can not risk the humiliation if the police comes to school. Secondly If I take the fractional pay issue to the labour board how does it work? I .e it takes abt 30 days to process then the labour board calls the school director for a meeting find out the true story and simply force the school to pay as it is stated in the contract? Roughly How many times do I have to show up at the labour board to win this case? Is the labour board like a court? Do u need to hire a lawyer? How long will it take me to win this case?

Thanks

OP, are you leaving Korea? You need to be in Korea to file with Labor. You'll need to wait because pay needs to be 14 days late before you can file with Labor. Maybe you could refuse to leave the apartment?

BTW, is this really a "reavel forum" topic? Maybe job discussion?
