Had dinner with a former student last night who said he had been told to be prepared to go back to base pronto if the call came--the Norks are moving things around.

I wouldn't put it past 'em to throw some kind of tantrum to get attention. It's their SOP.

Yes, the leaders of the failed state known as the DPRK will likely take a whiz in our direction. Fortunately, their trajectory is likely to be short, given the size of the "launch vehicles" they must deploy to piss on our parade.

Meanwhile they are weaponizing their plutonium. I say we ignore everything they say and do as it's all designed for domestic consumption.

A naval battle in the Yellow Sea would do as well as anything. So would a skirmish in the DMZ--at night that area is crawling with soldiers.

It looks like the Chosun Ilbo made the same connection I did.

N.Korean War Threat Looks Like Gamble on U.S. Transition

The occasion was an accusation by the North that the South Korean Navy is sending warships into North Korean waters.
The statement came on the eve of U.S. president-elect Barack Obama's inauguration, and the North has traditionally taken the opportunity of any transition in the U.S. to rattle the saber.
