no, they make me more anti-western. in general. I had already known that most americans are rather ignorant and closed minded, but because of the peculiar demographics of westerners here, that point is empahsized in a disproportionate fashion.

The first westerner I talked to (though never met) here was through Friendster... we talked for a few weeks and she started complaining about her job, which was admittedly a bad situation... but when she started to imply that every Korean ever born was bad just because her boss was bad, I was outta there.

wylde, it's been said so many times in so many ways but for you it bears repeating. Get out of Korea. If it bashes you so much you need to be someplace warmer and fuzzier. Even if you're a masochist it's no good being somewhere that beats you down so much.

Damn right!

Tsgarp,

What's your agenda?

Are you a Gyopo by any chance?

If I meet a Westerner who happens to be negative about Korea it doesn't make me anti-Western. It just makes me anti-that person! I think your comments about the Americans could be applied in equal measure to Koreans, if one was prepared to make such sweeping statements. My advice would be to keep an open mind about people, and don't assume that all "Koreans, Americans, etc" are the same. There are good and bad everywhere!

Such knowledge is remarkable, and a startling revelation.

Wylde is exactly why I posted what I did. Everything is a Korea bash. It's so freaking tiresome.
BTW, the whole kimchee stops Sars thing actually started in China. A Chinese newspaper originally speculated that perhaps the reason Korea didn't have any cases when a lot of other neighboring countries did could be due to kimchee. Exports indeed did pick up significantly so some Korean reporters just went with it. I told my girlfriend about it and she said she hadn't even heard about it. I wonder just how pervasive this is and whether or not things like this are not largely a case of people repeating things to themselves until they are true. As for anyone Korean or otherwise stating that Korea is bigger than Canada either that was tongue in cheek or CM made it up.

I did not make it up. I had some college students tell me that interesting "fact". I was quite astonished and thought they were joking in the beginning but they weren't. I kid you not.

I had to bring in a damn atlas (where Drakoi will find his "flat earth") to show them the truth. It was surreal.

How I wish to be as smart as you. Since you like to nitpick, let me emphasize the fact that a nitpick does not defeat an argument and that sarcasm can be a useful teaching aid.
