Today as I was arriving in the station, the underground shopping centre shops are all protected by metal shutters.
Some old man was standing with his front to one, maybe 20 metres from the tracks, where dozens of people are passing by. I wonder...is he peeing?
As I approach closer, I can see that, yes in fact, he is peeing. I decided to do the shopkeeper a favour.
Hey, you fucking pig!! What the hell are you doing?
He turns around, looking super embarrassed.
There's a bathroom over there. Go use it!! Jesus Christ!!!!
Amazingly, he went to the bathroom that was 20-25 metres away. |

Your avatar SOOOO doesn't match the post content.
It's weird to see this cute baby pic and look down at the text and it's all
fucking pig hell jesus christ!
1.) You should change your avatar pic.
2.) What station was it? Daewha? Juyeop? Jeongbalsan?
3.) Did you say these things in Korean? If so, please write exactly what you said as I'd like to know how to shame people so effectively in their own language. |

I just wonder if he teaching his cute little one to trash Korea like "dear ole dad" does on here.
I think those of us with kids from marriages with Koreans should be extra careful what we say and think. Our little one's do pick up on these things and it can do some serious damage in the long run.
Please worry about your family and not how cool people on Dave's think you are. |

I happen to know Ilsanman personally and meet him on a regular basis. Your concern for his family is admirable but they are doing just fine. He could also give a damn how cool you think he is. Your tone however is condescending and arrogant.
I suppose Ilsanman should be all roses and sunshine in the most perfect country that has ever existed. Perhaps this old man's flawless etiquette should be an example to us all. <Sarcasm off>By pointing out the old man's rude, antisocial behaviour, it may help him learn that it's not correct. Probably too many South Koreans are too chickensh*t to tell him off. That's the point apologists never get. If you actually gave a damn about South Korea, you'll point these things out and hope that things will change in the future. Or just stick your head in the sand (or up somewhere else) hoping things will magically change. Bravo CRAP! (Culturally relative apologist people) Bravo! |

Fortysixyou: My daughter wasn't there, and you don't know her. Leave her out of this.
But I shouted at him in English. He prolly only caught 10% of the meaning, but it did the trick. Nothing with shock an old guy more than being shouted at in a foreign tongue loud enough that everyone would turn their heads.
If you want Korean curses, PM me. I'll be happy to provide.
Grumpy: Same comment about my daughter. But otherwise, I hope she grows up realizing that I have a poor opinion of those peeing on shutters. Maybe she'll learn proper manners and respect for other peoples' property. Something the old man didn't understand.
I consider it doing a favour for the business working behind that shutter. The young guys working at the phone shop don't deserve to have to lift up a urine-soaked shutter when starting business for the day. |

What does complaining about someone peeing out in the open in a subway staiton when there's a bathroom right there have to do with Koreans, or anyone's opinion of Koreans...?
Could've been an old foreign man pissing for all we know. OP didn't even mention the word "Korean".
Maybe it's not him who needs to watch what he's thinking.... |

yes. a morning doesn't have the capacity to be incredulous, as it is a thing, not an entity. |

This is an agent issue, and if you ever teach students for the 2nd phase of the Korean English teacher exam, it is huge. Agent issues cloud subject issues, and these are your principal challenges teaching essay writing. You really have to watch this crap, b/c they will abuse agents *and* subjects, but most particularly agents. There will be long, rambling sentences, where the subject (agent) of the verb will detach from it and become on unlclear and un-fixable, requiring a total re-write of the sentence. I could post some examples but it's late and I'm too lazy. |

gyopos strike again!
gotta love everything Korean, don't let any of them loose face by making (gasp!) an individual's judgment where to draw the line on cultural differences; criticizing anything Korean is criticizing all of Korea, anybody's bad conduct reflects on the whole, blah blah blah
i miss the days when Dave's posters said what they *beep* thought without the PC police |

Is this directed at me? Is so, you are missing on two key points.
1). Not a gyopo. Sorry.
2). Not once did I defend the old man's actions. I merely stated that I have noticed post after post from the OP sharing his distaste of various aspects of Korea and Korean culture. I just wanted to share some advice, as a father of a baby from a mixed marriage, that negative attitudes are picked by children at a very early age and can cause some issues down the road. I hope (and have confidence) that the OP just uses Daves as an outlet for frustrations. |

What? Did you even read my comment? I said it's weird to see a cute baby picture on your avatar, then see so much foul language in your post.
Then I implied that if you're going to write such negative stuff, you shouldn't have such a cute avatar, and that you should change the picture to something more hateful.
And don't get all defensive like I was bringing your daughter into this. I never implied that she was there with you or that I knew her. I didn't even imply that the picture on your avatar was your daughter's.
Calm down, and read more carefully. |

Interesting concept fortysixyou. You must post comments appropriate to your avatar. I suppose all my posts should be smiles and sunshine from now on? So, what pray tell should be your posting style considering your avatar? |

Just, WOW. fortysixyou was joking around. He wasn't making an attack on the OP. Nor was he stating that an avatar needs emulate what a poster writes. He complimented the cute baby. If anything, he was praising the OP for what he did by asking him to supply some words for him if he ever gets into a similar situation. I thought fortysixyou had an excellent post and didn't offend anyone. Someone just didn't comprehend what he said.
Now it's obvious that you are standing up for your friend, but don't take it so personally. |
