Hi all,

I am looking for a book that is quite easy to reference to and that can be used by young teens to look up grammar when they forgot the specifics.

I have been looking around but have yet to find something like that.

Imagine a class where there is a free open environment focused on the production of the language, but then there is some dispute about some grammatical issues, correct use or whatever.

They just open the grammar book and look up the specific issue, which is then explained thoroughly but without too much technicalities.

Any suggestions?

I used books like that trough high school, but can't seem to find them anymore.

Check out the Azar grammar series. All the info you will ever need at 3 varying levels.

As a teacher you made need to know a bit of the metalanguage to point your students to the right chapter. Is this a noun phrase or a adjective phrase, stuff like that. Once you have identified the problem area though, the book gives more than enough of an explanation as well as quite a few practical application questions.

The book would actually be more used as a resource, they have to use it independently.

Maybe not the best description on my part at first. I do believe it fits pretty well the situation you are describing though. Ask around, you may find a lot of other teachers using this book. Take a look at a copy before buying to see if it really what you are looking for as they are a little pricey.

I think what you might be looking for is a "Learner's dictionary". These are not only typical dictionaries but provide a lot of grammatical information and usage (collocations, pre/suffixes, etymology and all that vocab building stuff). They are really valuable for what I consider a solid intermediate or adv. student of English.

But take a look at a learner's dictionary. Your school should have a set for use/reference by students who are serious about learning English. A grammar book is more something that I'd recommend a teacher.

There�s one available in Korea that is bilingual so the students have things translated if they need it.

I think it comes as a workbook, not sure if there�s a textbook as well.

One I use for college students who have forgotten stuff is Basic Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy and the Korean version says 한국어 판 on it. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but there's a Korean version of it at each level. It has exercises, too.

The deal is more like this.

Parents are asking for a better overview what their students are actually learning.

The children already have a folder where they keep all their work, but this seems to be insufficient.

So I am considering purchasing a grammar book (Elementary Level) and give reference to what we are focusing on that week.

On the side, I would want to teach the children how to use these books, because they are also going to write essays, once a week, using the vocab and grammar they focused on that week.

But I would like to say thank you for all the suggestions.
