It's not childish and stupid to be disgusted at a political party whose members participate in "white only" country clubs or disseminate racist holiday CD's to fellow party members at Christmas as a "joke." (!!)

Yeah, it's really hard to feel sorry for Republicans' claims that they're being singled out as racist, when their leadership sees fit to send out Barack The Magic Negro CDs.

And yes, I'm aware that the song was spoofing Al Sharpton's complaints about Obama's "inauthenticity", not black people in general. Still doesn't make it a smart choice for a national party, already ducking allegations of racial insensitivity, to put in a gift package.

On the Other Hand: this idea/allegation/whatever that the Republican Party represents something like the cause and origin of racism in America and indeed elsewhere in the world smacks of childish stupidity and the worst form of simpletonism we see on this messageboard.

But diehard partisans will remain diehard partisans, I imagine. Unfortunate that we must all have to share the same planet.

As far as I'm concerned--not the cause and origin, but the perpetuation.

"The perpetuation." The decisive element in its continuance, then.

So without the Republicans, racism would not plague America or other societies around the planet?

I simply do not understand your point of view here, you and those who apparently agree with this faulting the American Republican Party for all of this. Neither do I see what it is that you hope to realistically accomplish. Do you hope to ostracize and then exclude the Republicans from American society and politics so that only those who stand with the Democrats remain? When you craft such simplistic allegations and then hurl them at the other side, apparently hoping to shame/force them to modify their behavior so that they may now act in ways in which you might morally approve, do you expect them to see you through friendly eyes afterward?

You do not need this countdown. B. Obama is going to build a time-machine and win the 2000 elections. He will right all wrongs. Obama is going to create life on Mars.

I hear he can turn water into wine, too!

But can he polish a turd?

In 1876 there was a contested election. In the end, after much negotiation and horse-trading, the Republican Party sold out the former slaves they'd worked and struggled so hard to free and condemned them to a century of Jim Crow in return for a continued hold on the White House. The 20th Century did not see all that much change in the Republicans' practices.
