I work 24 hrs a week at a GEPIK elementary public school.

If I stay for another year (my 3rd year) I will work 26 hrs a week.

Currently I work 22 regular hours + 2 after school classes.

From March onwards, I believe regular class will increase to 24 hrs a week, we will get more students than before.

In addition, I'll have 2 after school classes which would increase the total hours worked to 26 a week.

I am at school from 8.40-4.40, a 40 minute class counts as 1 hour. 22 regular hours = 22 x 40 minute sessions.

Out of class hours, I sit around surfing the net.

I was told by my co-teacher last year I will teach 2 extra regular classes this year, because we will have more students than last year.

Her English is awful so she may have explained things incorrectly. But in my first year I taught only 20 hrs, in my current contract it increased to 22 hrs, so it is quite possible it will increase by another 2 hrs from March.

The extra hours will be paid as overtime.

No, I do nothing at all in the afternoon. It's quite nice, but at times a little tedious.

40 minute classes x 6 per day = 240 minutes or 4 hours
+ 1 hour for an EZ = 5 hours

18-22 fifty minute classes at a hagwon

(about four hours a day, today 1:00-4:50, in and out without any of that kind of work known as office hours or deskwarming)

my first job here was the more standard 30 fifty minute classes 3-9 pm

one of the great things I've enjoyed about teaching here - other than the classes themselves - has been the shorter work day (my last career was an 80-hour-a-week total commitment newspaper journalist gig)

I'm the only foreign teacher at a small hagwon and teach a lot of classes but they're mostly 30 to 40 minutes long and require zero preparation. All of my classes are ten students or less. In sum, I teach 28.5 hours a week.

Most of the classes I teach are content-based like Science, Math or Writing. I do do 3 to 4 hours a week of (generally enjoyable) internet preparation for my morning kindergarten classes as they're theme-based and I don't have a textbook. The theme this month is Space. I don't do lesson plans and the paperwork is minimal.

I should mention that I make 3.1 million and the school contributes pension.

I also work at a hagwon. I currently teach 16 - 17 hours per week. No prep time required. This is one of the better places...kids are even well behaved.

I'm on EPIK, girl's high school in Daegu. 15 (50-minute) classes a week.

1 lesson plan a week. Nice.
