This is not a name-dropping thread, but I'm doing this to see what interesting experiences our posters have had in their lives.

I have met some famous people............

When I was young I used to listen to music a lot. I was a big fan of Sigue Sigue Sputnik. I used to email Tony James (formerly of Generation X, Sisters of Mercy) to let him know what I liked about the group.

I then met Sigue Sigue Sputnik at a concert in Birmingham.

As a child, I appeared on 2 TV shows in the mid 1980's. One I think was called Razzmatazz. A school friend and I told a couple of jokes on that show.

I also appeared on a show called Poparound hosted by Gary Crowley. The episode I appeared on featured some new unknown guests called the Pet Shop Boys.

They performed a hybrid version of Opportunities (Let's make lots of money). It was in 1985, before they had their first major hit.

I've met what the tabloid press call the radical cleric Shaikh Umar Bakri Muhammad a few times at various conferences.

I recently met Mickey Duff the old boxing promoter while I was in London seeing the sights. I asked him if he was Mickey Duff, which he confirmed.

He was very friendly and polite.

Have you met anybody famous? Laughing

David Cross (Tobias in Arrested Development). Nice guy, taller than you might imagine.

Kristen Schaal (Mel in Flight of the Conchords). She is also very nice and a lot more attractive in person.

That's about it, my uncle used to work with Joe Cocker back in the day and my old next door neighbour's nephew invented Mr Blobby (I think only the Brits will know who that is).

Tommy Hunter AKA Canada's Country Gentleman

He was a complete asshole. I was working the curtain and he was bitching and swearing at me because some old ladies got into his dressing room.

A few, all in Portugal while they were on holiday ...

Michael Caine, Jimmy Tarbuck, Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Dave Allen.

Michael and Jimmy were exactly as you might expect. Dave Allen no, a great guy, but he was there for 6 weeks working on the script of his next series.

Danny Glover
I very rudely interupted his phone call at LAX. I'd just got off the plane from Incheon, dead tired, with a headache, and while waiting to get into the domestic terminal I heard someone speaking English behind me. Of course I thought he was talking to me. So I turned around and said "Sorry, did you say something?". I apologized when after he ended his phone conversation. He was quite nice about it but must have thought I was a total fruitcake! Laughing

Black Eyed Peas at a party in LA before they were famous and before Fergie joined the group. They were decked-out in 1970's polyester drabs, William was wearing a funky looking top hat and was pretty damned short. They seemed very "artsy" and pretty nice, but I just thought they were a bit odd with their get-ups ... little did I know =P

I was introduced to Skeet Ulrich at a function in CSULB. It was at the start of his career and people were starting to know him from the movie Scream. He was a jerk! He thought was hot *beep* and he wasn't even that famous then.

I once hung out with the Thunder From Down Under guys from the Vegas show. Though they're probably not considered "famous" by most, they were really personable, and surprisingly funny. I was shocked to find out they weren't gay and none of them were Australian!

Speaking of Vegas, I said, "excuse me... oh hello" (lol) to Tiger Woods in a Vegas club (I forget which one) a few years ago during New Years. He was with his girlfriend, I think his old gf. It was a random moment - when you suddenly turn and almost run into someone, but then I was a bit taken back when I saw who it was. He seemed polite, smiled and said, "hello".

Mario Lopez is originally from my hometown and back in the day, you can always see him in the mall ice-skating rink, holding hands with his girlfriend. He had also visited my middle school where he was rampaged by all the girls, literally. Aside from holding his hand for awhile in a crowd full of other teens, I never met him or anything. I take that back, I think he asked my name but I was one of 5 that happened to be right smack in front of him.

There's also a lot of other "celebs" and sport stars that hangout randomly in Southern Cali, it's not uncommon to see them at the clubs.

I really enjoyed that one.
