Ok, I hoped to go home for Christmas, but the prices were out of this world! I couldn't justify spending 2 million won for 2 weeks. Well, out of curiosity I did a search for going home in the summer. (My school is on the American schedule.) I couldn't believe it. United offered a price of $1,063, and Continental $1,300. That's with taxes! My flight is from Seoul to Columbus,Ohio. My ticket is being purchased tonight. Woohoo!

Home to Columbus? Did you by chance attend OSU? I'm living in (and leaving) Columbus for Seoul to teach within a matter of months. Small world.

What airline/travel site did you go through?

As good as the prices are, the value of the won makes $1300 about the same as ₩ 2 million.

I like to use kayak.com for flights originating in North America. If you live here, deal with a Korean travel agency (ie not one that advertises in English).

I picked up a ticket last week for $840 for departure on Saturday. I will be flying from Busan to Pittsburgh and back to Busan from Washington DC.

Yep, went to OSU back in the mid 90's. I was born and grew up in Columbus. It's a great place. I miss the diversity.
The price for the ticket is good for me, because my school gives a bonus, in dollars, if you resign early for the next year. I just used that to pay for my ticket. I realize that the won is not doing well, and that it would make a difference if I had to pay with won. I still am happy though, because when I came to Korea almost 5 years ago, the price of a ticket was $1,400! I think I'm doing ok with this ticket. Smile

Well, good luck everyone!
