i've been in daegu for a while now, and am looking for some more interesting bars besides the itaewon, t-bird, commune circuit. places like billi-bowl, the ice bar, and hookah place are fun. has anyone come across hidden (can't read korean) bars that are kind of unique or fun?

I'd be interested to see some responses to this. I've pretty much been going to the same places, although I haven't been to t-bird in a while - 5K a beer is just too much.

I've been spending more and more time in commune. After spending Lunar New Year in Seoul (bringing back memories of living there) Daegu really sucks balls.

Club That is among the best that doesn't get much expat attention, IMO.

yeah i've heard of club that, but havn't been. is that on the same street as frog, monkey, and the other clubs? they aren't really bars, more of restaurants, but the little alleys along the club street have some interesting little things. as of now though, the munchen place is still my favorite.

It's not on Rodeo. The directions say that its straight down from the fire station towards downtown and on the left. So it's on the same main street as Commune.

Wow, no one has anything to say about Daegu nightlife other than club that.

It's official then. Daegu sucks balls.

Wait...there's a HOOKAH LOUNGE in Daegu?!

Please, for the love of GOD, post some directions or a link or something. That might just keep me sane for the next 9 months...

it depends on what part of daegu....there are bars outside downtown. when i was at keimyung university, my friends and i spent a lot of time at elvis- a bar not far outside east gate. the beer and liquor was reasonably priced, it was right next to a delicious galbi restaurant, it had a pool table and some board games and a big screen tv for watching sports. it was low-key and the atmosphere suited us.

it just depends on what you are looking for. i can't recommend anything downtown as i haven't checked out much of the nightlife there.

Billie bow is cool. I found it entertaining.

Daegu has some nice spots, I wouldn't say that it sucks. It's not Seoul or even Busan for that matter, but it is unique. I had a friend who lived near the homo red light district.... she was pretty shocked by that. Laughing

If your definition of nightlife is sitting in 3AP drinking the same room temperature pisswater and looking at the same waeg barfly regulars day in and day out until the end of time, then yes, Daegu sucks for that.
