|
|
I went to the VP's office and talked to my only acquaintance at my school.
He has helped me out as a translator during the high-profile disputes with my co-teacher.
He is happy to be leaving the school in April. My contract ends in May.
I thought I would launch a diplomatic offensive. I have never told the Principal I have completed a TESOL course.
I only seem to see him when there is trouble. I thought it would be a good idea to let him know of my certificate.
I thought it would be good to see him for a positive reason as opposed to settling a dispute.
My acquaintance (his name sounds like Yongin) accompanied me to the Principal's office. The Principal rarely shows emotion.
I said that I had completed a teaching certificate, Yongin translated it into Korean. My Principal smiled, looked quite happy, shook my hand and congratulated me.
Secondly, I said I thought it would be good to have a certificate, as this was a model school. The Principal also looked quite happy to hear that too.
I thanked the Principal and Yongin, and walked out.
I wouldn't count on it, but if I get a half-decent co-teacher in March, I will stay on at this school, on the condition there is no interference in my after school/spring/summer/winter/fall camp lesson plans.
This move of mine also shows I am 'dedicated' to teaching, dedicated enough to do the teaching course. It also proves how false the previous claims of my co-teacher have been.
It felt good to see the Principal happy with something I have done for a change. |

I think my principal would kick me halfway to next week if I bothered him with this kind of inane shit. |

My Principal is into appearances i.e. a model school with a 'qualified' teacher, I think that's why he was happy. Perhaps your Principal is even sterner than mine. |

No. This is the trend set by 'TESOL qualified teachers'. Now, get with the program! |

I've checked this. Because the course is 100hrs and not more than 100 hrs, I won't get the pay raise until the next contract starts.
In GEPIK's 2008 contract, it states if you get a TESOL/TEFL certificate mid-contract, you won't get an immediate pay raise, unless it is over 100 hrs.
Correct me if I'm wrong. |

You need to start your own blog...or at least not use this website for this same purpose. |

The Principal just entered the room, smiled politely, acknowledged me and then left.
Perhaps my charm offensive paid dividends. I must emphasis the word 'perhaps'.
I can't stand it when posters seem to post just for the sake of it, even when there is nothing meaningful to say.
I suppose my 'Market real brownies' in the general discussion forum proves my point.
I'm bored of sitting at my desk all afternoon. Of course, I never tire of my own posts, that's unheard of. |

I think you mean jester.
At school, my school reports used to say I spent too much time 'clowning around'.
