Use the website from the Russian Embassy in South Korea:
http://russian-embassy.org/english/consular_03.html
Its not a difficult process. Go online and pay 30 bucks or so to get an
-invitation and a
-voucher.
They will need to fax this to you, so make sure to set up the use of a fax.
Then take them and your passport and your photos and money to the embassy.
Wait a week (or less if you pay more) and go and pick up your passport. 131 Dollars seems right. I'm pretty sure they take USD, which would be in your favor right now.
Ive done it 3 times there and it was easy. American males may have to fill out a supplemental form (in reciprocation for our requiring the same) but that may have been dropped (US no longer requires). Edit - you can download the consolidated longer form for Americans right off their website.
The only problems I had was
-finding the embassy (it moved a few years ago - follow the map on the link above and you'll be fine)
-dealing with a mistake by the Korean travel agency. I was at the time flying to Moscow and out of St. Petersburg from/to Seoul via Amsterdam. The lady at the travel agency put Vladivostok as a destination on my invite/voucher. When I told her that this was wrong and I wanted a new one, she said, "Korean people wouldn't mind if this was on there." I insisted (after laughing out loud first) that she change it as I wasn't Korean and didn't want to mess with Russia's officials. She did. Check these documents carefully and list on your application the cities you will go to. Also list the cities you may go to, just in case.
One thing, make copies of your invite and voucher and stow them. Carry the originals on you (and your passport) AT ALL TIMES whilst in Russia. I had a dickhead cop ask for this while fishing for a bribe. That time he let me go as I was prepared. The same dickhead cop got me 5 days later on my way out of the country at the same train station. -I got a new job a few days after arrival so knowing I would need to leave to get another visa I didn't bother registering mine so I ended up giving him 500 rubles.
You have 4 days to register your visa upon arrival. The hotel will do it for you.
Good Luck / Удачи!

Your map is very strange. It doesn't say "East Sea" on it. I wonder why that is?
Good information guys. I have thought about taking a trip to Vladivostok myself but the airfare from Incheon is criminal. (around 700,000 won) |

Took a pic of that map on an Aeroflot flight upon landing in Vladivostok. LOL |
