Not sure about Samsan-Dong specifically, but Benchwarmers in Old Downtown (just across the river in Seongnam-Dong) is good. Purple Haze in Mugeo-Dong is good too. |

I used to live in Samsan-dong in Ulsan. This was a few years ago and I've heard it's changed a bit now...when I was there, we'd go to the Crown and Anchor and Asshole bar in the old downtown area.
If you are looking for a classier place to have a beer, try the Lotte Hotel bar down the street.
It's the most incredible bar I've ever seen, as it's decorated like a jungle (I haven't been to Rainforest Cafe but I have a feeling it is similar).
On a side note, the bakery in the Lottle Hotel has good bread, and more than just white. |

W Bar and WA Bar in Samsan are both good for a beer. Cowboy 9 has a nice atmosphere and the bar grub isn't too bad. Eurus (or some such name) near Trevi (and Trevi itself) is alright.
Downtown, Benchwarmers hasn't been too busy lately but it's a good place to meet some of the foreign community and has pretty good burgers and wings. Poker on Monday nights, Wing night Wednesdays and you may run into me and my gf as we're often there^^.
The Royal Anchor is still open, as is MacKenzies, but I haven't been to either recently. Asshole went the way of the dodo a few years back.
In Muegeo, Purple Haze is reasonably busy, and Tombstone is still open, but pretty quiet from what I can tell.
PS - If you're looking for brown bread, I'd check out Jung-Gu Homeplus. Just leave some for me^^ |

| Yeah, Bench can be alright. I prefer to go to McKenzies myself though. I usually hang out down in my neck of the woods in Dong-gu. Ilsan Beach has some alright bars. Nox is my favorite. Ballantines in Bangeojin is alright too. Wa Bars are usually a good bet. I haven't seen much live music around. |

Hey Clo, Glad to hear you're enjoying Ulan. If you're looking for live music, and in the Ilsan Beach area, there's a Hotel bar called Ocean View that has a live band 6 nights a week (not on sundays). If you're standing in front of Wa Bar, look across the street. You'll see Nox to your right (3rd floor on the corner) and a sidestreet almost directly in front of you. Cross the street, walk down the sidestreet past a couple love motels, and Ocean View will be on your right. The bar serves alot of expats, has a great staff, and the band plays a bunch of cover songs. A fun place to drink.
You should probably check out Ballantines first though. Good luck!
