I really like it - and it's small and not too large. It's a Canon - not Korean.
can I just buy an adapter for the plug and use it in the US? |

Read the power consumption label (on the back or on the bottom).
If it says 110-240VAC then yes, you can take it home.
If it says 220-240VAC then no, for all practical purposes you cannot take it home and use it.

You could buy the same thing back home. Depending on how much space/weight you have available for traveling, it might make more sense just to buy a new one. |

actually no, I can't. This one was made specifically to be marketed in Asia as low-cost, high end photo printer. It only cost 50,000 won - I still can't believe what a great printer it is. maybe they're that cheap back home now but just a few years ago I would have expected to pay 5-6x that much.
It's good and prints great, and really fast. I will be sending some boxes home there's no reason not to keep it if I can. |

Exactly. Take it home if you really want to, and get an adapter plug.
100-240 means it will accept 100volts to 240volts. America's 110 is in that range, as is Korea's 220.
It's a smart idea to check adapters of all the things you buy. I wouldn't expect all consumers to care, but travelers like us need things to go from 100-240v (or so).
The other option would have been to get a step-down transformer from Fry's. That'll work for all Korean appliances taken to the US, just as my step-up transformers work for my American appliances that were developed by idiots who didn't think 100-240v was a good idea. |

Yes, that is close enough. Buy a plug adapter or just cut the plug end off and screw on a new one from the local hardware store. Cost you about 50 cents. |
