This can be done in one day, right? My crazy boss (see my other post under running away) says it takes one week. BS! Last year, mine was extended for another year the same day. I am so tired of incompetent people.

Yes, it can be done in a day provided you have all the proper documents. A colleague went last Friday and extended. Took him a few hours as there was a long line up. They take your info and card and will write something on the back of the card. I always suggest to people to get their re-entry stamps at the same time.

If re-signing with the same employer, does one have to get the CRC done, again?

My supervisor seems to believe, "Yes."

Yes, your sojourn can be extended as you stand there if you have everything. Go to the immi website and make an appointment, saves the trouble of waiting.

to Kiteflyer: CALL IMMIGRATION AND ASK THEM!!!! They are the only ones who "know" the answer to this question.

Re-signing with the "same" employer does not need a new CRC. It is when you go to a different job or if you have never turned one in yet to immi..then you need your CRC...

If you change jobs, then yes, a new CRC is required. Unsure if you change with a new ps school if one is needed..and is still ps.

From my experience, I just hired someone who had worked for a company that went bottoms up. He had submitted a CRC with them. When we applied for his visa issuance number, we didn't need to supply them with another CRC. So, I believe that it is up to the discretion of the immigration office you deal with.

I hear that the Busan office is tighter than a frog's sphincter. I deal with the Sejogno office, and they are pretty good to us.

IF you are renewing with the same employer

AND you HAVE previously submitted a CRC then you do NOT need a new one.

IF you are renewing with the same employer and have NOT previously submitted a CRC then you WILL be required to submit one AND have a medical as well.

If you change employers with a "visa transfer" then the above is also true.

IF you change employers with a NEW visa application then you DO need a complete set of NEW documents INCLUDING CRC, transcripts, etc.

This is one MAJOR reason why I am DONE..D-O-N-E...DONE with E2 visa mess when this contract of mine ends...2 more months...2 more months...maybe less depending on one big thing I have coming up. Teaching in Korea is one major joke. At least on an E2 it is. Supplying frsh docs every time you change jobs? If that isn't a crock, tell me what is. I find it so funny that if I changed jobs in March that I would have to submit a fresh CBC and a health check after I just did those things and turned them in for my extension a few days ago. If I have no criminal record now, how woud I have one in March? Thank God above I'm done with this mess soon.

I'll tell you what is a crock. The E2 holders on Dave's that say F2 holders should have to go through the same hoops every years as well. Imagine being married to a person in the US, having obtained a green card and then having to supply fresh documents every year, even though they already did a background check and you only left the country to see your relatives for a few weeks.

I plan to renew my visa for a couple of months at the end of my contract to wrap up the semester. Same school, and I've already gone through the new regulations once. I understand that I will not be required to resubmit my CBC, but I'm a bit hazy on the health check. Will I need another check to extend my visa for a couple of months? Is this an "annual" check, or a once-per-school deal?

I'd appreciate some insight!

IF you have previously submitted your CRC and medical check to immigration then you only need the renewal documents for an extension.

You WON'T need a new CRC or medical.

Now, let me pose one hypothetical, if I may:

Let's say I leave my hagwon this summer and go home for awhile...and then come back around, I dunno, Christmastime. (It's one possibility I'm considering.)

If I do that, my understanding is that I'd have to start the visa application over again - even though I'd be returning to the same employer. New CBC, new health check (but no interview, right, because I've held an E2 and have no blemishes on my record). Is that correct?

ttompatz,

My visa expires a couple of weeks before my contract ends, but I have a new job lined up after that. Can I renew my visa with my current employer without a new CRC (I did one last year) and then transfer that visa to my new employers a couple weeks later?

That would be really nice...

P.S., what's the best way to contact Immigration? I found +82-2-2650-6212, but they are constantly busy.
