"Can I make a comment that is unrelated to the economy very quickly?" the new president told reporters at a gathering with business leaders. "And it has to do with Washington. My children's school was canceled today. Because of, what? Some ice?"

Snow days are a sacred right** where I come from. He's treading on some pretty thin ice, if you ask me.
I remember back in the winter of '86 (it was the winter before our superintendent ran off to LA with his gay boy lover from Omaha--we were always skeptical of those Omaha folks after that; sad story, that; best superintendant I ever worked for, corrupted by the big city) between Thanksgiving and Christmas we had 10 snowdays. Our school district was in the bluffs along the Missouri River so often we were the only district for miles around getting the day off. A radio station across the river in Nebraska used to play 'Coward of the County' before reporting school was cancelled for us.
**It's in the fine print of the Constitution somewhere. |

everyone in Chicago gets what Obama was saying: ice is barely reason enough to slow down.... two feet of snow, then let's talk about cancelling classes |
