My grandmother's parents immigrated from eastern Europe to England at the turn of last century, and my grandma is still there today.
My grandfather served in the RAF and my grandmother worked in a jet engine manufacturing plant during the war. I questioned her about WWII when I visited her last, and she said that no one in England was aware of the full nature of the atrocities that were happening in continental Europe at the time.
I thank G-d everyday for my great-grandparents deciding to settle in England, because my family are devout Jews, and I know I would not be here today had they settled in other parts of Europe.
