Would it surprise me if Hamas set the explosions that created the carnage? No.

Nothing in that region surprises me anymore, I guess.

Unfortunately you're quite right on all counts.

Yes, I finally understand the middle east. Smile Everyone is right, and everyone is wrong.

I think you scan say that "X consider 1 X life to be more valuable than 100 Y lives" in any war situation.

I would love to see a whole group of world leaders start calling that whole situation for what it is.
I wonder how all those countries would react to hearing leaders just flat out, grab the TV cameras, give 'em a little shake and say "Hey you wackjobs. Stop acting like feral animals".

41 people died just outside a school = not a tragedy?
Quote:
A teacher who was in the school at the time of the shelling reported that several people within the compound were injured, but that none were killed. Those killed were all outside in the street as the shells were fired, he said. Only three of those killed were students at the school, he added.
Only 3 Israelis civilians have been killed in total.

Or are you taking the "this is more anti-Israel propaganda" line?

I'm taking the "premise of the OP is false" line. The tragedy/propaganda stuff wasn't included.

I think a total of 3 maybe 4 (I lost count eventually) of UN schools got in the way (one way or another) of IDF military activity.

So perhaps the OP still holds, depending on which UN school.

By the 9th of January the tally was 3 UN schools:

Quote:
The strike on the UN-run school in Jabaliya followed Israeli strikes on two other UN schools in the Gaza Strip Tuesday. Two people were killed when an artillery shell slammed into a school run by the UN Palestinian relief agency, UNRWA, in the southern Gazan city of Khan Younis and three people were killed in an airstrike on a school in Gaza City, according to Palestinian medical sources.

Despair mounts as deadly Israeli strike hits UN schools

I think there might have been at least another after that.

It was at least 4:

Jabaliya: 2 UN Schools
Ash Shati: 1 UN School
Rafah: 1 UN School

I just don't have time wade to through loads of google hits to find a mainstream news outlet listing all 4 in the same article.

Israel does what she needs to do for her own sake. I give her nothing but blessings in this. Death is often necessary for the future to change.

I wonder if she only imperils herself with this course of action. Maybe these deaths will bring about a change, but not the sort she hopes.

Here is some footage of a UN school as it was being hit. People are running for shelter and you can see it would have been terrifying.

Be warned: there are photos of dead children.
