No, it is because they are treated like aliens. Treat someone like a human being if you want them to understand your culture and respect you.

What Korea are you in? People may look twice at you, but they don't treat you like aliens. Have a bit of confidence.

Just like we scour and quote the Koreans from press clippings. Somewhere out there is a netizens site on Daum or Naver cafe that probably dissects eslcafe postings as well.

Humans, men especially, are inept at times in their lives. It's like, 'can't help it.' So, what's wrong when all the day is done and one feels like shit, it's a bit of a listening ear.
After being on this site Christ knows how long, years and years? I still never tire of the negativity.
Life sucks often.
There are some people who say, 'Oh, if you are down don't put other people down.' Well, in a bar when one is seeking fun that's a true maxim to not bring your mate down, but on a website we are free to choose what we want to respond to.

PS: I had a shit day. And made other people feel shit, too. But heck, I AM a foreigner and every other day I know this. The simple reason is that I am an English teacher. In my job I am expected to work - hence English, even to those who are beginners at it - managers etc. My Korean is better than their English. Henceforth, I get frustrated to the MAX. Supremely frustrated. Enough that I would sacrifice a year's savings and split. Just say the word sometimes that's what it's like. And, that's coming from a stayer. I'm a stayer, yet I sometimes wanna split and rub my hands of it.

Another part of me too is I feel guilty. I made the kids suffer a bit today. Made a kid cry. But heck, that's life. People think, 'You should never make a kid cry.' I agree. But, did I make him cry? Well, I could have changed the circumstance from is sadness to joy, as I have done many, many times, because often kids are not happy. But today, I was not happy for one class of 15 minutes. Who is to settle me? No one. There is no professional development or comaraderie. So, one day out of 200 kids get my sadness. I should not feel so bad. Would you feel bad? I feel bad.
Is that negative? I feel negative. Hence the wine and whiskey to cover it. Am I an alcoholic. So many questions. Unanswered.
We are not in our society so if you work pretty much alone, like me, sometimes we have these thoughts that we are essentially, literally alone.

So, who ele is there but, Daves. The people who are in that same boat, presumably ... who can lend an ear. Not necessarily to absolve, but at least to guide.
Men need guidance at many various times in their lives.

you made a good point... but those male posters are showing some psychological characteristics of low-IQ people on this board.

I think it's good to ask yourself: what if I was living in Germany?

Imagine if you were living in Germany and went on a message board to tell everyone that all Germans are idiots, German food is awful, German politics are ridiculous, German culture is shallow, the German language is impossible to learn and that Germany was pretty much crap. People would laugh at you and let you know that the problem is not with Germany, but with you.

The biggest reason why people feel so alienated in Korea is that they don't look like Koreans.

From the gyopos I know who can't speak korean it can get much worse...I've seen my friend get ignored once they found out he can't speak korean..even by shop owners! They'll make concessions for me....

Most of the complaints I've read can be summed up like this:

white people

Or to be more accurate, white people who've never experienced being a minority before....all those comments about being an alien or whatnot are laughable...You get the same treatment back home if your not the majority or "normal". Koreans are nicer than people back home and are very respectful in my experience.

Perhaps some of you are unfortunately stuck in a hick town of racists, but to say you were treated like an alien is silly... Laughing

when you have the same people posting the same crap again and again and complain how much they hate Korea again and again...

Means they are passive whiners who either can't adapt or get over it.

So they lurk on Dave's trying to convince everyone else (and themselves) that something else is the problem. They look for others to validate their mutual feelings and then pin it on Korea. This further propagates their mentality to find other issues they have continue to blame Korea for their problems. Even finding problems that don't really bother them to *beep* about. Like idiots, searching out negative things to say about Korea, to share to their expat buddies.

Case and point, When Koreans take out bottles to have their children pee right there. I don't know why everyone complains about something so trivial that doesn't affect them. Imagine if I complained everyday that the sky was blue and it should be green. Nobody gives a flying F***. You can't do anything about it, it doesn't affect you at all, stop b10tching. WHO CARES! really. unless urine is getting all over your burger it doesn't affect you at all nor is it the end of the world so stop crying.

God I hate whiners. Go to a bar and drink some beer and loosen up. Jesus have fun.

Korea is F**ing hot.

There are so many awesome things to enjoy here. Women, Men, drinking, Norebangs, PC bangs, Arcades, Clubs, Food, stores, clothing, TV, Music, Ancient culture, modern culture, technology, meeting new people, laughing and having a good time, etc etc etc.

God, what's going to affect daily life?
The adjoshi pissing on the street or the awesome jim gil bang?

People CHOOSE to be happy or sad.
People CHOOSE what to ignore and what to acknowledge.
It's about time people on Dave's stop complaining, grow up, and learn to enjoy their short time on this planet.

1) Women. CHECK.
2) Drinking. CHECK.
3) Food. CHECK.
4) Clothing. CHECK, BUT ONLY FOR THE TAILORS IN ITAEWON.
5) Technology. CHECK, EXCEPT WHEN THE BROADBAND MISBEHAVES AGAIN.
6) Laughing and having a good time. See (1)-(3)

OK. That's enough to support your case. How about we limit the whining to one posting per person per week?

Can't add much to this. There are annoyances anywhere you want to be in the world. Korea has them, but the positive aspects of living here are much greater. If it's more than you can take, leave. Korea doesn't hold a monopoly on the ESL industry. If you come, there's much to do and enjoy. Make the most of it.
