I'm looking into taking over the deposit and rent at the apartment my school set up for me as I'm changing schools but remaining in the same area. I've offered to buy the furniture the school provided me which includes a used airconditioner installed last summer.

I'm wondering about how much a used airconditioner costs and how much it may have cost to install so I can be sure I pay my school something similar. Thanks in advance.

About 500k, depending on the size.

IIRC we paid about 1.25 million to have two installed last year. One was the big stand-up type, and one was one of those horizontal ones that gets mounted near the ceiling. I think the big one was about 500 used, the small one 250 used, and 250 to have each installed. As I type now, those figures seem high, but that's more or less what I remember.

250 installation souds high for a wall mount. It took two guys about 30 minutes to do.

I could be mistaken. It might have been 250 for both. In fact that sounds more reasonable. Sorry-- it's that early-onset Alzheimer's thing.

Another thing to consider is the amount of hose between the indoor piece and the outdoor piece; it'll cost more if they're far apart. Also, our guys were here for over an hour.

I say lowball 'em at 200 for the works, and think twice before going higher than 300, depending on the age/condition of your unit.

If this is a 1-room place, a simple 5 pyung aircon will run you under 275 including install.

Here's a new 5 pyung Winia like my wife had for 178,000 new. That's pretty cheap. Installation will add maybe another 60,000 won. If you have some unusually long distance you'll pay for extra pipe, but chances are you'll pay around 60 I'd guess:

If you're doing just the install and nothing else, I'd guess it might be a small tad higher than 60.

Why don't you just ask the school for the name and number of the people who did it, and then call them yourself and ask them for an estimate of what they would have charged?

Or you could always ask the school to submit the original bill in writing. Laughing Even if they don't have the original bill, they may have an expense record that they could check. It never hurts to ask. At the very least, it would leave an impression that they are expected to be organized.

Just a thought. Very Happy
