http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2009/0203/worldcup.html

Why the bloody hell should they deserve another crack at the tournament?

It's not like the last time they hosted, or the Olympics previously Improved their attitude to foreigners.

Cant really speak of the rest of the stadia, but the Daejeon World cup stadium is looking pretty shabby through neglect and underuse.

Give it to Australia, or England who actually have a passion for sport beyond nationalist d.ick waving.

Ever notice how people here conveniently ignore the fact that the 2002 World Cup was co-hosted with Japan??

On a positive note, it would make many of their current tourism advertisements 0.0001% more relevant.

It should go to Europe for 2018. I would give it to Japan as a sole bidder before ever giving it to Korea. At least Japan has the infrastructure necessary to make a successful World Cup. World Cup stadium cant hold a candle to Yokohama.

Korea will never get another World Cup. A majority of the games in Korea during 2002 were played in half empty stadiums much to the dismay of FIFA. There was little interest amongst Koreans unless Korea was playing. The games in Japan didnt have this problem.

And you're basing that comparison on personal experience?

Why wouldn't you want to see the local economy improve? Unless you are a bitter poster that no longer lives in Korea?

Correct. Never ever, ever. When you only have to host less than half the games (2002), and you only sell 60% of seats (other than Korea matches), there is NO WAY you will ever host again.

However, that's only the second, distant reason. They will never get the WC again because of what happened after the Switzerland game. Koreans doing DOS attacks against the FIFA website is no small thing. Especially during the WC. For about 6 hours, the FIFA website was almost inaccessible, during the World Cup, because of Korean football fans attacking and hacking the FIFA site.

I can not believe their pea-sized brains don't realize and accept this. I swear, their brains are bird-like, or fish-like. They do outrageously embarassing or stupid things, then the next days pretend like nothing happened. However, people remember.

They won't get it, but I wish they would.

Last time was great, free booze, friendly hot girls from around the world, and great friemds to be made.

You are wrong about Japan not having problems. I was in Japan for, I believe a Turkey v Senegal QF game.. (not exactly sure, but Turkey was involved) and the scalpers were selling good tixs for around $20. They were holding so many tixs in their hands and frustrated they couldn't unload them. So... Japan had it's share of issues filling the stadiums. You also can lay blame on a certain British ticketing company. They royaly screwed up the ticketing and fans didn't get their tickets mailed to their homes until a few days before the world cup. So, they set up emergency re-ticketing centers throughout Korea and Japan so fans could get their tickets.

Also, the atmosphere in Japan blew. If you weren't near a stadium, you'd never guess the World Cup was being hosted in the country. Korea's WC atmosphere was sooo much better.

Anyways, I'd say a good 20, or so, years before Korea gets a crack. FIFA would love to see China host one soon. Then there is Australia, and at least one country in South, or SE Asia, before Korea or Japan gets a chance. Although, it would be nice to see Korea get a chance to host it by themselves.

of course they wont get it. no point in even wasting their money applying for it. no country would get it twice in such a short period of time. They will have to wait a long time before they have the opportunity again.
