|
|
| Hey, does anyone have any good ideas for middle/high school graduation lessons? I've been trying to think of a good one involving superlatives (most talented, most likely to be late for class, best hair, etc) but I want to avoid a lot of writing (my students will probably all "forget" their pens/notebooks). I could just do a regular game, but I think the kids would get a kick out of voting and superlatives. |

| I think it's movie week. This year I have two weeks of grad classes. What a stupid concept why don't they just finish at the end of December and come back for one day of ceremonies rather than having classes. |

That'd be too logical. |

I'm in the same boat. Jesus Christ don't teach them anything! I toured my school this morning and none of my students were doing anything in any of their classes. The teacher was either AFK or they were watching a movie.
Trying to teach them anything now is pointless.
I made another thread on this without looking at this one, what is everyone else doing in this situation? I hate giving free time but I can't think of any alternatives. |

Yeah, I don't want to give them free time, either. First, because I'd feel lame doing it. Second, I think my co-teachers would think less of me if I did. I have absolutely no recollection of what I did with them last year, which is weird. Maybe they didn't even come to class? *sigh* I don't know. |

Just go with the flow and pop in a movie on the computer, or whatever you have.
The students won't want to learn anything and it's pointless to try. I've tried a few times before, but left frustrated. |

I just talked with one of my co-teachers, and she said I should prepare something cultural, like a presentation on American high school graduation ceremonies. Honestly...I can't imagine that being a great way to end a year of classes. Ugh. |

| Play the graduation song by Vitamin C. Put together a slideshow of random kids graduating from google images or use your own friends and photos. |

I asked my supervisor about this and her reply was to teach them normally. I must make too much money apparently so the response was that I should be teaching them 100% of the time, even if they have exams or are tired. Jealousy is rather hard to hide sometimes...
Seriously, having 1 week of normal classes at this time is beyond comprehension. Oh the things I would change if I were the education minister...
Sometimes I wish the Koreans in the education system would grasp that quality is more important than quantity and that morale works more wonders than money.
