I remember when I worked the clubs in Calgary, a big brawl broke out between doormen at the Palace and some off-duty officers. The cops were asked to leave, they refused saying that they were officers (they were asked to leave because they were drunk and out of hand), the doormen said it didn't matter. A fight ensued. Two cops ended up spending some major time in the hospital (after being taken into the 'kitchen'). They ended up suing the Palace... but I can't remember the outcome.
Off-duty officers need to remember that their authority is greatly diminished when they take off the uniform... and nulled when they drink. |

Does this surprise you CaptainC? Cops generally think theybare above the law and that they can get away with thins kind of stuff. They routinely protect each other and blatently lie for each other whenever they step above the law.
I've seen this kind of stuff time and time again, where cops abuse their power either on or off duty time and time again and get away with it time and time again. I only hope that policing in Canada and in other parts of the world can make the necesarry changes where real justice is served on a more consistent basis. |

For every stand up guy there is, and there are a lot of them there is an asshole thug of a cop who abuses his authority. The problem with the good ones, is they often have to keep their mouths shut when this kind of things go on for fear of their jobs and their good standing on the force.

Alberta is a great place. It has it's share of cowboys, and rednecks, but remember Sharkey, New Brunswick is probabally the hillbilly capital of Canada! |

LOL. It was a bit if sarcasm. Being from New Brunswick and working for years in the Oil Patch.. If I had a dollar for every time I was asked which Island New Brunswick was? Or something of that nature, I'd be sitting pretty comfortable right now.
Actually I am still sitting pretty comfortable, but the ignorance of the East, from those in the West is pretty funny at times. |
