Thanks, bangbayed!

I guess it's just a long haul anyway I do it. After comparing the subway with your directions I guess the subway will take about the same. Thank you, though.

Now this site is down for me too. It usually worked before, and worked this morning.
http://bus.congnamul.com/SeoulRouteWebApp/view_english/map.jsp

All the "menu" bars loaded, on the top and left side. But where the map should be just says "Error 12002"

I removed the "twinkle little star" activeX and then reinstalled it, but that didn't seem to help.

well I have a Mac and obviously can`t use this site because of Koreans` obsession with virus ridden Explorer Rolling Eyes

Anyone check for me if there`s a bus that goes from Madu station to Omokgyo by any chance? direct or not is ok

Need to get down to Mokdong immigration.....just trying to see if the bus would be any faster than riding 70 mins on the damn subway

It won't work on a Mac (I have one too)...unless you get IE6 or above running. This is possible using various means (done it- yuck)- but a bit annoying to do just to look at a nice bus map.

can you describe how this is possible? To me it would be worth it....

Even if you get the congnamul site to work, it is very out of date. It works for some bus numbers, but many bus numbers in Seoul changed a few years ago and the new numbers are not on the English site. Meaning a bus might show up on the map, but it no longer exists or has another number.

I don't usually encourage using naver, but...

wow, this was amazingly helpful - all 3 of those link to the congnamul site that 15 people posted which DOESN'T work on a mac and is apparently out of date, and the other is in Korean.

I've spent countless hours on this issue. Bottom line is, get a Korean with patience to look up Seoul bus routes on Naver for you. Doing it in English might mean trying to find a bus that doesn't exist.
Or call the helpline listed above.
Or, if needing a bus regularily for a place you have to often go to, look at bus signs around your house, then canvas the area where you need to go. Match them up and read the routes on the bus signs and in the bus. But you'll have to be able to read Korean. But have to check both sides of the street as busses might take you from a-b but not from b-a.
However, if you can get the Congnamul site to work, the local area busses (Korean term "Malbau," or something like that/green busses usually with 2 digits) I have found to have the same or similar routes before the bus number changes. That is busses like Kangnam 02, Seocho 10 and the like. The longer distance busses with 3 or 4 numbers are often listed wrong on the site.
Until the Seoul government updates that site, or we all learn Korean, we've got to rely on Koreans for this, or do detective work.
It can turn out to be a free English lesson for someone to help you out.
For me, I found the route and bus number on Congnamul, showed the computer screen to a Korean and asked what the bus number is now for that route. They did a search and told me the the new bus number with a map on Naver.
As for it working, I use 2 computers, both Windows XP. The site works on one but not the other.
