|
|
After a long stint in Korea, I'm going home at the end of Feb. I have a scooter that I love. It's zippy and awesome. Sadly, it can't come home with me.
I have a 2006 Honda SCR-100 scooter. It's 100cc 4 stoke engine (which means you don't have the mess of adding oil yourself). It's black and is in pretty good shape. It does have some scratches, but that's life with scooters. It has never been in a serious accident, only the regular wear and tear of traffic here. I am the second owner, the first never had an accident.
It has close to 16,000kms on it and has had it's oil changed regularly (every 500kms). It has a new tire on the back.
It's legal, that means is registered and insured.
You need to have either a Korean or international driver's license to ride legally in Korea.
It goes about 100kms on a tank of gas, which currently costs between 7,000-8,000 won. Oil changes cost 12,000 and happen every 500km.
I'm in the Itaewon area.
I'm asking 950,000won for the scooter and it comes with rain gear, winter mitts (the adjossi kind), a lock, two sets of keys and a helmet. What a deal!
If you're interested please PM me. |

1. How do you know the first owner never had an accident?
2. 16,000 Kms? Good god, you really rode this thing into the ground. Most of the 2007 SCRs for sale here are around 5000 Km, so you've ridden yours more than triple all the rest! On the one hand, that shows your (or the previous owner's) love to ride, but on the other hand, how much more can the bike take?
If I could see some comprehensive pictures of the bike, I might be able to go as high as 800,000 depending on the condition.
Cheers. |

To clarify (and I won't comment on the price), you need either a Korean driver's license (which covers car and also motorbike 125cc and less) OR a valid home license COUPLED with a valid international driver's license.
This law will change either this year or next year, though, and you'll have to have a motorcycle license. Specific dates are confirmed yet. |

Hi there!
I know the previous didn't have an accident because she was my friend (a friend I still talk too) and only have the scooter for 6 months before she sold it to me. She originally bought one of those chinese retro-looking scoots and had TONS of problems with it. So I was very lucky to buy the scooter from my friend practically brand new. She was planning on taking it back home until she was stopped by the shipping company.
I ride a lot and all over the place. I believe when I got the scooter it had around 6,000kms. My friend used her bike all the time too.
As to how much much the bike can take, I think it can take a lot. I've been really good with the maintenance.
We can talk about the price and I will put up pictures today. |

I priced the scooter based on what scooters of similar year and mileage were priced at on auction. They were asking between 1.0-1.2, so I went a little under. It's much better shape than a lot of the scooters in the chungmuro scooter area.
From what I've heard the motorcycle license test is pretty easy. If you take a "safety" course with the Seoul gov't, they'll let you do you test on the same bike. In the safety course you never get out of first! |

I have a Korean license so that's no problem. I'll figure out getting a motorcycle designation, I guess. I live in Gangnam . . . Do you think you could ride it here for an inspection/test drive either this weekend or the next?
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing the pictures. Surely we can discuss the price, then. |

This ain't no hyosung or daelim. Do you have any idea how long and strong Honda's engines go for??
16 k is nothing on this baby. I've heard people say that a well maintained Honda will go for more than 50,000 miles! |

That's reassuring. I'm not much of a car/bike guy, so I just want something that will get me around safely, not slip out from under me when I turn, be able to carry some stuff (hence my desire to get a scooter and not a motorcycle) and will start up every time. |

I own a 2005 model of this bike and I love it. Dependable as hell (mine starts first time everytime even below zero), and very zippy. Plus, Honda's tend to retain more of their value (because of the reliability and longevity of the engines.
I've check the online sites and you will not find a Honda for cheaper in this country than what the op is asking for. Asking prices for a 100cc Honda 2005 and after don't go below 1.2 (seen some 2006's with 20,000 k's selling for 1.4) |

I appreciate your enthusiasm crazy_arcade, but your name is appropriate; there is a 2007 SCR100 with 10,000 Km on it for 1.1 mil for sale right now.
That's why I'm hesitant to pay 950 for one that is a year older and with almost double the mileage. |

I am quite experienced with bikes, and I just wanted to say that Honda engines are strong, and in my opinion, the best.
The price is alright (it is high because it is an import).
As for the motorcycle test, it is actually a bit difficult. If you don't take the hagwon course (about 200-300,000 KRW i believe, and 10 hours), you have to go to the DMV to take it. It is a total of 12,000 KRW for fees. However, it is NOT easy. When I took it, there were 70 of us, and 4 people passed. Great test though. If you can pass it, you know how to handle a bike. |

my korean friends have told me that when you buy a bike from a store, they always roll the mileage back. you can't trust it, ever.
however, if you think that the 2007 is a good deal, then go ahead and buy it. or test drive it and see how it feels. i will put pictures up tomorrow.
i think the price i'm asking is fair considering how much care i've taken with this scooter.
also, i should mention that this scooter sleeps in a garage. it hasn't had the regular outdoor treatment. there's no rust on it at all, which is more than i can say for most scooters. aside from a few scratches it's great.
my scooter started all winter, no problem, so i think it's got tons of mileage left in it.
950,000 is a very fair price and i will deliver the scooter within the seoul area. |
