Just moved to Suji last week.
Spent all of my previous time in Busan.
So, being new to the neighbourhood, my question is what is there to do in Suji?
Also, where is the local hang out?
Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.
It is a tad quiet around here.
Most exciting place seems to be the Mcdonald's (where I go every morning for coffee).
I have already walked over to Suwon a couple of times and Ori a few times.

Suji is a pretty quiet bedroom community, closely attached to Pundang.

There's a Super Wal-Mart in Suji that's out of the way. Not much as far as department stores are concerned.

You pretty much settle with the bus to get you to Seoul, a 50 minute ride.

Carrefour is located near Ori Station, Door 6 just take a 20-min busride to Migeum Station and connect to Ori.

Suwon is the same distance as Pundang is. Explore both, see what you find.

I wasn't impressed to much with Suji when I was there. Not much to do there.

I'm in Yongin too. Not much happeneing. That Carrefour is not bad. Suwon's a bit more lively I guess. Bundang seems better to me but perhaps it is dull?

I live in Suji. There are a few decent bars, where the foreigners tend to meet up and there are some good restaurants, as well. There isn't much in the way of shopping or extra-curricular. PM me if you want more info.

Any more opinions on living in Suji?

It'd be nice to wake up on the weekend in be in a spot that had a few more things to do, like I understand Bundang might have. If that bus ride to Seoul was just 30 minutes instead of 50... anyways I am not into clubs too much but wouldn't mind going to some every once in a while. Bars, too. It is a bummer the subway doesn't run out there. I think I'd like living there but just wanted to check. Very Happy

Also, is there a university around or something... I'm in my early 20s, want to hang out with people about my age.
Shocked

Thanks for any input you may have.

No universities that I know of.

Bus 720 takes you to the front gate of Ajou university in Suwon, but that's like a 30 minute jaunt.

Nice area though.

Same bus also takes you by the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

Thursday and Friday night everyone tends to end up in the WA bar down in the plaza, I've been in Suji for two years now and seriously there is virtually nothing to do. Its only 50mins or so to Hannam and Itaewon at night so that might be your best bet, the bars that people tend to hang out at, are Maddogs and as I said the WA bar. Good luck mate!

Thanks for the responses. So it's a "nice area" and there's "virtually nothing to do." Well... I can handle that.

kelly, why have you stayed in Suji for two years despite the apparent lack of anything to do? Very Happy

The whole Bundang/Yong-in/Suji area is designed for young Korean families. Not young single foreigners looking for some nightlife action.

I find the whole area pretty dull. It's back to Seoul for me.

Yes, Aju has some nice restaurants, though the bar scene is "eh".

I make 2.75 a mth in a regular job without having to do any "extra work" I only stay here three nights a week now and spend the rest of my time with my fiance in Ichondong so its fine, suji is friendly though that is one good thing I'll say about it..

Not much to do in Suji.

But there are alot of foreigners there. You can find some most every night getting drunk at either Beer Cabin or WA Bar. Both are a couple of blocks from the McDonalds.

The closest subway stop is actually Migeum Stn. in Bundang, which is nice for western restaurants (TGI, Outback and Sizzler). Its a minimum fare cab ride away. Also, the bus from Suji to Itaewon still only takes 30 minutes because it hits the highway immediately.
