Looking maybe to get a spot near Seoul National. My school will give 400k +10 mil key money. Might have a roomate so then 20 mil with 800k. Can we find something close to this around Seoul National/Sadang? Space isn't a huge deal, but enough room for a couch would be niceuh. |

Rent there is pretty much the same as every other neighborhood in Seoul and the area doesn't offer much in the way of ammenities. Hit the areas on the green line around SNU Station, NakSongDae Station, and possibly SaDang Station.
Same general advice applies. Take as many days as possible and blanket all the Realestate places you can find until you get what you're after or something reasonably close.
Good luck to you. Let us know what you can find. |

When I look at oneroom.com and oneroomclub.com officetels around Seoul Uni. tend to be cheaper and nicer than elsewhere. Im sure you could get a pretty nice pad for either of your two financial options. |

Well, maybe, but it's been said on here a number of times that you can't really trust what you see on those sites; they put up 'teasers' to get you in. I've seen the one-rooms around SNU and Naksongdae, and they are boxes. Cheaper? Maybe, but not if figured 'by the pyoung'.
Tough to say until the OP hits the pavement and reports back. We'll probably be shopping for a place up that way in 6 months or so, too, but for chunsae and a lot bigger. The last time we looked, rents were about the same as elsewhere.
Again, good luck, OP. |

Really? I just showed a few places on those sites to a Korean friend and she said '비싸" so I wonder what I'll actually find. Hmmm. Thanks for the heads up all. |

Yup, and most other Koreans would back that up. I hate on-line real estate sites here. You have to beat the pavement, and even then, you have to get luck and be prepared to make a decision on the spot. Really good places at decent prices are off the market in a matter of a few days max. |

Yes, the photos are fake and the prices are cheaper on these sites. Classic bait and switch. You have to actually visit a real estate agent in person to get a good idea of what you'll get and for how much. |

Yeah that friend said she'll help me out and do some legwork with the real estate guys. She said the websites aren't the way to go. Thanks. |

The actual sites for the 부동산 might be more reliable in terms of what is available. You can try going to naver, typing in the name of the 동 and 부동산 and you'll usually get results of several of them in the area and often links to all their websites. Those big aggregates like 114 might not be that great, but the individual websites might give you some guidance as to which one you should visit. one thing you can find out is which ones deal in month to month and which ones deal only in selling, only in commercial real estate, etc at the least. |

I just went to see one room and officetel near that area.
With 20 Million KRW you could get 12 pyong officetel for 400,000
per month. With utility and management fees about 500,000.
One room is smaller usually around 4-5 pyong.
This will run for usually 300,000 to 400,000 for one room. |
