As I prepare to leave this country, I have just two questions.

1. My school will not pay me for being sick one day because even though I told my coteacher I was sick and wrote a letter saying I was, I did not actually physically come into the building and ask the vice principal if I could stay home sick. And also sign some little form that I didn't know about. So I didn't receive her consent so I won't get paid.

2. I have no office here. The coteacher has told me from day one that I must stay in the vice principal/teacher room and not sit anywhere else. When I asked why, they said that the vp must know where I am at all times. I must stay under her vision. Now, I have never left the school or anything and don't run off anywhere, but the vp says I must be under her nose because she wants to keep tabs on me. That means even though I was 10 feet down the hall that was wrong. I must be in the same room with her.

I feel like these two things are really bizarre. Does this happen at your school? I just don't get it.

God has been really s***** to you. I've been paid for the sick day I took on December 31 and my VP (bastard that he is) doesnt care about where I am. Just doesnt want me going home early and uses CCTV for that reason.

Yeah they kinda keep tabs on me but I am a bad boy. I took 7 sick days, come in late, make no lesson plans and sneak out all the time, and don't call sometimes when I miss a day. I am the best teacher in Korea paving a way for equal rights, life. liberty, opportunity, and the American WAY!

Laughing Laughing Razz

Sorry OP but that's very funny as hell.

Why don't you point to your ass and pucker you lips to suggest the nazi VP to kiss your ass next time.

Them not paying your sick day, that's BS. You need to contact the coordinator or education office to get them straight on sick leave. Once it's cleared up, take sick leave more often. Laughing

I am leaving very soon. Had to sort out flight issues and stuff.

I guess God is being good to me by getting me out of this situation.

I thank Him for that.

I learned some things too.

The teachers in this school though are great and so are the kids.

Good luck to you all.

that's not "normal" for korea in a public school; what's normal is for them to harass you with phone calls, text messages, and knocking at your door when you call in sick Wink i strongly suggest you call the coordinator in your area, you have paid sick days in your contract.

schools almost always poke around and see how much they can get away with with their foreign teachers, if you don't contact the school board coordinator now, you are simply sending the message that you're a pushover and fair game for whatever else they want to try on you. it won't get easier.

as for the VP thing, yeah my VP wanted the same thing this winter break, but i told them that all my books are upstairs and my computer has files i need so i am upstairs. you have to put your foot down sometimes, and you're first step should be contacting the coordinator.

It's reading these kinds of posts that make me think I have the best PS job in K-land! I can't figure out why God is being so good to a heathen like me. Wink

OP,
Do you work at a parochial school?

Holy shit. I wouldn't put up with that. For the sick day, I'd be calling the head office (GEPIK, EPIK?). As for having to stay in one room or whatever? I wouldn't put up with that at all.

When you go take a leak, does the VP hold it for you? The next time, why don't you ask him if he'd like to hold it for you?

Anyway, this is pure harrassment. I'd fkn scream up one side of him and down the other.

And you'd get the boot soon after. What's that? 4 times in 10 months?

I'm not trolling. What's your problem? Would you let your boss make you stay in a room at all times? I'd be pretty angry.
