Fair enough, You are right. What's the resolution on the 94? 1920 x 1080 means 1080i, not 1080p, I believe. Yours is better (1080p full HD), my apologies. 350,000 Very Happy

You're right "M" something fishy about those sales. The ad says it's the 93 but the picture says 94...would have to call to find out for sure. I reckon the 94 is not full HD but 1080i.

So finally I don't have any funny logic for Sobriquet, right? ^^ Wink

No, 1920x1080 is still consider as fullHD with ratio 16:9, and 1080p or 1080i is not base on resolution but the way video signal is sent and displayed

But 2493HM model have better brightness and contrast (2393hm is very bright and clear) and the resolution 1920x1200 make the pixel looked better than 1900x1080

I've tried to explain this to Jeff many times but he is actually a bit of a Luddite when it comes to technology. He's from the days of valves and still calls a radio a tranny.

1920x1080 on a monitor is definitely the equivalent of 1080p. 1080i pumps out half as many pixels onto the screen per second, but on alternating lines to give the impression that it's a larger picture, without requiring all of the processing power. This is fine for watching golf and nature programs, but when you try to do fast moving objects you get a lot of flickering.

Did you ever notice how when you were watching TV sometimes you have something like a spaceship moving across the screen, but instead of moving smoothly the edges of the space ship seem to jerk back and forth? That's what happens when you have an "i" image instead of a "p."

You also get that same effect when your monitor's refresh rate on a PC is less than 50hz. That's why a 1920x1080@50-60hz is definitely full hd.

1920x1080 is the resolution of blu-ray. There are 1080i and 1080p, which was explained earlier somewhat. There is no quality difference to the naked eye, unless a lot of fast movement in added to the picture.

Where people get confused is that most PDP or LCD TV's listed as 1080i are not actually 1080i. What they do (most of these TV's listed as 1080i) is accept a 1080i signal and downconvert it to 1366x768 resolution. People think what they see in the store on TVs as 1080i is actually what 1080i looks like -- it's not. It's what 1366x768 looks like. If that confuses you, this'll really boggle your mind -- in that downconversion process, the picture becomes progressive, and is actually output as 768p.

True 1080i and 1080p are exactly the same resolution. It's the frame rate that differs.
