PM on last count there are 3 mods currently working at a hagwon, and one is on vacation (bobster)
4 work at university
and the other 2 are in the 'other' category.
Again I reiteriate my point that the mods only tend to get involved when posters post rude stuff. We also have a few nice projects like the FAQ, useful websites etc. to be a resource to teachers that we do, but the time we would spend on this is often taken up on getting rid of flames etc.

In general we will remove it if a school asks because it would only take one lawsuit to bring the whole of daves as we know it down. However in the time as a mod I have never seen any horror storry removed.
just as a note I would say that 90% of what the mods delete falls into three categories: flames/non family friendly pics/links
I suppose maybe there are many less horror stories than there were years ago. |
Wouldn't you have to Win the lawsuit to bring down site? Now, don't get me wrong. I understand his decision to take down the post. However, I (along with many, its safe to say) would like to know why?
Is it:
A) He can't afford to hire a lawyer?
B) He doesn't want to lose his revenue stream?
C) He doesn't want to deal with the hassle of the whole thing, (ie. Corroborating the story, affadavits, ect) so the offending thread is deleted.
As a mod, I assume you or any of the mods have talked to him with regards to this. |

Impossible? Is Panthermodern, me, or any moderator going to be identified for slamming a specific hakwon on a public forum? Hardly. User names do not justify any legal action against this site - our titles are fictitious. I doubt Crazylemongirl is a legal name. Could be a guy for all we know!
There is a disclaimer stating the responsibilities of users/readers and so on, and that eslcafe isn't responsible for statments, or actions taken against any statements. Dave is in California; this is Asia.
What if a director wanted to close eslcafe down and intentionally submitted some rancid comment about his/her institute? Is it really that simple?
