I'm looking for a way to store my bed, couch, desk, and a few boxes for about 3 months. I did a search and found this thread http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=145311&highlight=storage+facility where a poster mentioned the KGB Moving Company as a possible means of storage. Does anyone know how to contact this company or know of other options available to me? Thanks in advance.

Since posting this, I've found two potential storage services.

1) http://kr.alliedpickfords.com/storage

2) http://www.korex.co.kr/english/bizarea/movingsvc/mo02.jsp?selMenu=hb

I've sent emails to both.

OP, sorry I don't have your answers, but I too am interested in hearing more about this KGB Moving Co. In my case, I will depart Daegu and need my belongings stored and shipped to suburban Seoul.

My Korean friend found this site for me. One month is 120k to 150k for what you could fit in the van on the left and the middle respectively.

I asked her if the company does the pickup and delivery for free or for a fee. but she couldn't find that information. She's going to call the company on Monday. I'll update this post then.

Thanks, Ed.. seems like any place here is going to be pricey, though

Chinaboy, I asked my mother to check prices in Texas in order to compare.

a 10 x 10 at one place was $60 a month and 50 at the second place
a 10 x 20 is $80
and a 10 x 15 is $ 60

Here is a pm I received that could be of use to others. Thanks for all the pms. I think this will be useful.

Hi, I'm in the same situation so I called the Seoul Global Center.
They sent me this email:

For information regarding storage service, please contact Hyeongsung logistics storage center http://keeping.co.kr/goods2.htm at 011-709-0415 (monthly 60,000won). You can also refer to http://www.direct24mall.com/
http://www.24dream.com.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

SGC

If you don't speak Korean, have a Korean friend call because they don't speak English. I think they said it will be 130,000 won for pick-up and moving to the storage facility and then 60,000 a month. They're located in the Jamsil area and they can hold your belongings for up to one year.

Bump!

I know this is an old thread, but it seemed the most recent/informative one from searching. I'm going to try calling some of these companies with a friend this week, but does anyone have any other recommendations?

I live in Daegu and need to have my stuff stored in Seoul for about a month. I don't have too much, just a small desk, tv, ps3, 1 large suitcase of clothes, and some small appliances. However, it's enough where I'm unable to get it from Daegu to Seoul on my own so I will need transportation as well. If it's too expensive I may just sell as much as I can and lug the rest on the KTX with a friend or something.

I had the same problem a few months ago when leaving for vacation. I had my Korean GF call a few places which were mostly in Gyeonggi. Sorry, but I dont remember the names/numbers.

What I ended up doing was asking the owner of my local convenience store if I could store my things there. He actually insisted on doing it for free, although I did manage to convince him to take 100k won for his troubles. I had 3 large boxes stored there for 4 months and I gave him 50k at the start and 50k at the end. I bet if you could find a local family owned store and they know you then you could also do this.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I do have a couple of friends here with pretty decent sized apartments who wouldn't mind storing my things for a couple weeks, but I'd really like to have my stuff in Seoul as I will need some of it (I'm leaving most of my 'work' clothes here) pretty soon after I get back. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to make the trip back to Daegu and I would also have the same problem of finding a moving company or whatever.

I'd probably like to find a place to store stuff at the end of my contract. Maybe for a month or 2 while I do some travelling in Asia. I wouldn't want to ship my books and laptop and other stuff back home, but I wouldn't want to carry them around with me for a month or so either.

In Seoul, are there there small storage facilities? I'm not talking garage size. Something smaller that could hold maybe 2 rucksacks.

I thought I would bump this for anyone who may search for this in the future. Anyhow, I ended up going with these guys:

http://www.segilogis.com/

It's costing me 300,000 to pickup my stuff in Daegu, store for a month, and then deliver to my new apartment in Seoul. A bit pricey, but considering all that is involved, it's not too shabby.

Just got a quote done by Allied Pickfords, 900,000Won for a couch, tv, 2 decks, 2 chairs, 2 small bookshelves, a bean bag and coffee table. My stuff isn't worth 900,000won... Bahahahaha

http://www.segilogis.com/storage/storage_01.asp

on the other hand will store and move my stuff for under 200,000

Just wanted to let everyone know!

I mailed 29 boxes through regular mail at a local post office from the mainland to Jeju Island for under 300,000 won. (The rest I packed in my vehicle.) That's right, under 10,000 won per box and each box was at least 15 kg. With prices like that I'm gonna use the post office every time. Just finding a secure room somewhere to store all my stuff is the issue.
