|
|
Ya know, the liberals were so quick to jump on every little gaffe of Bush and to ridicule him mercilessly knowing that he'd take it all in stride as no liberal president would be thick-skinned enough ever to do.
Cases in point:
Obama mistaking a window for the door out of the Oval Office wing of the White House recently.
Or saying he "was going to have a look at this thing as we move forward and into the future..."
Or Pelosi saying that 500 million Americans are out of work this month.
What double standards have you noticed as of late? |

Obama using the economy to instill fear into the American public to make sure he gets bills passed that he wants.
If you thought Haliburton/Cheney connection was shady, just want until you see the connections to big business that Obama cabinet members have.
Obama's "change" policy is a sham. |

As the Rev. Brian Schwertley says, "The Democrats are driving America off the cliff at a hundred miles an hour, but the Republicans are still driving America off the cliff... only at just fifty miles an hour." |

I'm pretty sure the historic rates of spending Bush and Co. did put that fear in place. At least Obama is spending money domestically. |

"Every little gaffe"? The man massacred, not just the English language, but simple colloquial phrases little children utter on a daily basis:

Are you comparing Obama's

Or saying he "was going to have a look at this thing as we move forward and into the future..." |
To Bush saying
"Rarely is the question asked, 'Is our children learning'?"
I'm sure Obama will misstep and make some gaffes but to bother to shelter Bush from the rain of his own ineptitude is a waste of your time. |

Totally irrelevant. And anyways, the 'buy American' clause was pulled.
Obama is using fear to push this bill. I believe this is because he is getting poor advice from Summers (Summers is using fear to get gifts for his bankster buddies and Obama is eating it up). Paul Volker used Bloomberg news to express his anger at being marginalized thus far and immediately following the release of the article (which I posted here somewhere) the economic recovery council was put together, hopefully lessening Summers's influence. Time will tell.
For a far more cynical and angry analysis, see the excellent Naked Capitalism:

We've now had two bait and switch Presidents in succession. Bush promised "compassionate conservatism" and dragged the country far to the right, enriching those at the top of the food chain and leaving everyone else with the empty promise of "trickle down economics." Obama promised change, but his economic team is slavishly loyal to the interests of the financial elite who steered the financial system onto the shoals and now expect all of us to patch the hull and somehow get it back into navigable water. Yes, we have some gestures to appease the downtrodden, like restrictions on private jets and largely meaningless promises of salary caps (Lucien Bebchuk, a Harvard Law professor and expert on corporate governance, described how they do little to restrict total comp). Summers and Geithner are proteges of Robert Rubin, former Goldman co-CEO, and they are proving true to form, promoting even more borrowing in a doomed-to-fail-or-be-counterproductive effort to achieve status quo ante, the very conditions that lead to this shipwreck. Paul Volcker, who is enough of an old-fashioned banker that he might have been able to exert a moderating influence, appears to have been marginalized. |

The bailouts and other forms of socialism are still happening, soldiers are still coming home dead, and the national debt continues to balloon.
But to Obama's credit, he does bring some class and decorum to the White House. That's been about the only change, but I guess it's better than no change at all. |
