|
|
Once or twice a year I go to the Walker Hill Casino. I've never been able to figure out why Koreans can't go there. The government allows Koreans to go to the casino in KongwanLand and to one or two other one star casinos in downtown Seoul. My wife is Korean and it seems strange that they don't let her enter, yet if we wanted to do a three hour drive, we could go to the KangwanLand casino. Lucky seven and Walker Hill just don't let them in. Is it really a Korean law, or is it a casino policy? |

They had so many social problems from that one casino that they don't want that to spread around. Koreans go crazy gambling like the Chinese and lose everything.
I also get the feeling that they like to cheat us out of our cash. I lost 2oo on the machines in Seoul and stuck around drank and watched. In the 3 hours I watched the machines did nothing but take people's money.
They are supposed to be set on 80-90 percent so I asked the guy working there and he got realy pissed off at me. The machines were set on the lowest setting of 60% and it was obvious. |

If you're going to a casino and haven't yet registered this fact, then you should not be going to casinos at all. |

I'm happy the casinos in Seoul don't let the locals in. Have you seen the casino in Kangwando? It's madness and crowded. Once in a while, I like being able to sit next to another foreigner who respects personal space and has manners. |

I guess the casinos are thankful. they'd get a lot of losers just getting free drinks and food, not gambling at all. They'd treat the waitresses badly too.
The gov't is doing them a favour too. Sometimes adults need to be treated like children. |

Legalizing gambling often brings about a bunch of social problems. I think Gangwon Land might be a good example of that.
The reason why they build casinos is to build tax revenue and increase tourism. By limiting entry to foreigners, they get the revenue without the social problems. |

Gambling is sinful. I used to gamble like a fool until I realized it was my kid's education money. |

Magic powers? Can't observation yield a educated guess. If you watch 40 people bet over 40 milion won in 3 hours and nobody gets a win over 500000 my cheating metre goes crazy.
If you watch black jack at 7 luck casinos you will also notice a loss rate that compares to no other casino I have ever been in.
Also watch out for 4 Indian guys who hang out at casinos in both Busan and Seoul they try to pull scams on westerners by trying to make friends with them after they see people winning.
They will do anything from trying to sell fake watches to following people outside and asking for cash in a very mugging like way. |

Of course everyone knows that casinos have a odds advantage but cheating is another concept.
You are not being cheated if you know that you are playing agianst the odds. But when they start to change those odds because it is just foreigners in the casino that is a different story.
So shove that smiley face where the sun don't shine.
The guy asked why no Koreans are allowed in and I gave two of the biggest reasons.
1. They don't want social problems.
2. Tourists are not around enough to notice the scams so they can take foreigners money without feeling bad about it as they are racist pricks.
3. They know the Chinese and Japs will come over in large numbers so they can still make a lot of cash.
4. Tourists have enough money to blow and Koreans with enough money can get a passport from another country.
The casinos are full of Koreans, just not the poor ones that would eat all the free food and drink all the booze and scare away the rich foreigners. |

I'm calling BS. Casinos don't need to cheat. The have the odds advantage which is basically a license to print money. I don't doubt that while you were watching the slots, perhaps 40mill went in, and only 5 mill went out, however, it only takes one jackpot to correct those figures. (I don't know if you recall, but there was a guy on this forum about 6months ago who won a 40mill jackpot at walker hill and was asking how to get the money out the country, lol).
I've played quite a bit of blackjack here in Korea and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Heck, the average chinese tourist is so bad at blackjack that stacking the deck with 5s would probably hurt the casino's edge. Regarding Roullette, they offer American Roullette in Korea which is a disgrace the double zero really gives the casino a much bigger edge...but I wouldn't call it cheating/ |

Exactly.
And no, observation can't yield an educated guess in this case. Sample size too small. Method too unreliable. Study some statistics. |

According to staff at Busan 7 luck they have given the level 1 jackpot only once since the casino opened. They did this so they could take a picture of the guy. Thats what the staff says true or not. |

Ganwon land has no alcohol (well there's an overpriced cocktail bar a two day donkey ride from the casino floor) while Lucky Seven has free booze....might be the reason. |
