I am considering the HP dv7-1029. It does not have a blu ray player.

Is it possible to play ripped HD dvd or blu-ray movies with this computer's
specs ?

intel core2 duo t9400 2.53 ghz
6MB L2 cache
mobile intel PM45 express
Nvidia Geforce 9600 9600GT 512MB Turbo cache 1279MB
4GB DDR2

Any help or comments appreciated

I would say you'd have no problems playing ripped HD content on that rig.

good to know. thanks for the thought

Im also thinking of the HP elitebook, but I haven't come to a definite conclusion yet.

Would you happen to know the most important spec. with respect to
good quality HD playback ? I'm thinking cpu and graphics card...?

A graphics card optimized for it. The good ones will say so.

All about the graphics card, but a decent amount of RAM never hurt, either.

Thanks guys.

I have decided on a computer.

Now i'm worried about Vista !

The tech guy will install the english version, but now i'm worried about
having all of this power go to waste on a crappy/wonderful O.S.
(depending on the reviewer)

premium 32 bit , 64 bit or ultimate ? I'm not sure ....
