No recession for her.

As figure skating superstar Kim Yu-na's wins and fame increase, so is the crowd of corporate sponsors lining up to associate the teenage athlete with their products. From automobiles, baked goods, laundry softener and cosmetics to women's hygiene products, Kim's got it all covered ...
But a rough tally of Kim's already sealed endorsements, sponsorships and cash prizes show that her total income this year will probably hover between eight to 10 billion won, more than double the amount she raked in last year ...
``Kim Yu-na sells,'' says Yoon Il-sang, a consultant at HD, a local marketing agency. ``She is totally in the upper realm now, with top celebrities like Lee Hyo-ri and Kim Tae-hee, but what's even better is that she has a fresher appeal.'' |

I was watching skating last night and during the commercial break, she appeared in five commercials in a row. All for different types of products.
She's got it made. |

At least she's a little more worthy of respect than the mountains of tone-deaf, talentless pop stars oozing out of Korean TV. |

She's bloody good and easy on the eye so it is warranted - moreso than any British sports star and their fat ass endorsements anyway. |

I've got no idea who she was. Hope she doesn't read the internet and kill herself, though. |

For some reason I thought Kim Yu-na was American. I said this to a friend and she joked that I was trying to steal her from Korea. |

She's really talented and, as others have said, easy on the eyes. However, and please forgive my complete lack of figureskating knowledge, how can she fall on her @ss and still win? Was the rest of her routine just that much better than the competition? |

Its funny though - didn't some cretin from Big Bang/SuperJunior (No I don't know the difference! Oh please!) put in a friendship request into her myspace account and she rejected it - which had him slagging her off on some TV programme which led to thousands of Big Bang/SuperJunior fans (teenage girls) besieging Kim Yu-nas website with hate messages and threats of death?
The Big Bang berk later admitted he lied about it all! Typical eh? |

I was just wondering. If I was famous I definitely wouldnt use my real info or stats. Considering facebook and every other social networking site sells their information to AC Neilson the market research firms. One giant privacy void. |

She won because the total points she earned minus the points deducted from her were that much better than the competition. She just had one point deducted during the one routine I saw. |

1) She's an outstanding athlete
2) She's Korean
3) She's gorgeous
4) She's young
Sounds like a winning formula to me.
What kind of bothers me here is that musicians and athletes completely sell their souls to advertising once they become notable. |
