My academy wants to repay me for the expense of a one-way ticket home to the US.
I want to stay in Korea on a tourist visa for an extended period of time while I search for a new job, study Korean, travel in Korea, etc.
I need to have the ticket with a flight date to show my boss who will then pay me that amount.
Is it possible to purchase a ticket for a specific date, then have the date changed?
I can see myself working for another hagwon by June and having vacation time at the end of summer intensives or during the christmas break, which would be the two possible times I'd like to be able to use the ticket to the US. |

Here's what I've learned regarding one-way tickets. You can buy a ticket with a specific date and cancel, but you will pay a big penalty. For example, a 860,000 Won ticket will cost from 80,000 to 200,000 Won to cancel depending on when you cancel. You can move the ticket date up to the day before your flight, but the new date must be within the same month as the original date.
This information only reflects what I learned from one travel agent in Itaewon, so it is probably incomplete. Anyway, I hope it helps others in some way. |
