Mormons bothered me on the bus today with smalltalk. I'm glad they exited before I did.

I'm a practicing Catholic and I am pissed off with people trying to convert people on the streets by yelling them with megaphones. I have people that want me to convert to weird Christian sects coming to my door every week. I tell them that I am a Catholic and that I would never convert, yet they don't go away! The fact that I have a flock doesn't seem to matter to them at all.

Good grief.

The first couple of years here I used to get hounded by bible-freaks, but it's been at least a year since one has approached me (and I'm all over Seoul during my average workday).

I think I've finally developed a vibe that tells them "Don't waste your time".

Years ago a hogwan secrectary gave out the phone numbers of all the foreign teachers to her Christian friend who could speak English. She proceeded to call us all on a Saturday afternoon.

I saw fear in the secretary's eyes on Monday morning when I went in and yelled at her for it.

Just tell them you already belong to the Church of Satan and say you'd be happy to give their church a shot if they come to your next ritual orgy.

I was on the subway in Busan when an adjumma was walking up and down the aisle with a bible in one hand and pointing to the heavens with the other hand while preaching fairly loudly. Suddenly an older Korean guy who was seated yelled for her to shut up at the top of his voice. She moved away from him but hardly missed a beat.

Yeah, living in Tampa, we get our fair share of bible thumpers at large gatherings. I guess they see it as their time to get on a wooden box and tell everyone they're sinners for enjoying their day. I also live 5 minutes north of the mecca of Scientology.....I'm surrounded by freaks!!!

I usually just speak in German until they leave me alone....worked up until Christmas when the guy who stopped me turned out to be a linguistic genius who spoke Russian, French, German, Japanese and Korean.

I've considered that "speaking German" tactic. Luckily, nobody who has approached me could speak English :-p

I am not sure that I see your point. Most of those who are not in "flocks" are no more susceptible to conversion than you are. Maybe less so. Flocks are for sheep..........or seagulls.

So are these 'Christians' you speak of filled with almonds or honey-roasted peanuts?

Because I've eaten some Christians before that were all macadamias and it left me wanting.

Also, this thread should be a warning to those with allergies.

Whew! No Italian or Swedish. I am safe with the few words I know at least until they figure out that most Swedes speak perfect English yet have no hagwams. Strange how that works.
