My contract is over on the 24th and im having some problems and would like some honest input on. I work for a brand new public foreign language high school and so Ive accepted they dont have a clue what is going on half of the time. Ive heard, oh sorry its new school there will be mistakes, so many times I feel like it should be the schools motto.

So my problems are as follows:

1. School wants me to buy my own ticket, which I dont mind but no one can tell me when ill get the flight money back.

2. Since I leave on the 24th when will I get my severance and last months pay, since payday is the 25th, again no one knows.

My co-teacher has been doing some work outside of school so I havent seen her in 2 months and when I ask her about these things she sends me an email reply that never answers my questions, or she tells me to ask X teacher but he doesnt know anything and is surprised co-teacher told me to ask him.

I have no classes this month so I think the school is done with me and is purposely jerking me around, because this thing has been going in circles for about a month now.

So any helpful suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

i would try to get my visa extended for a week or so

that way you'll be here on the 25th

show them the ticket and tell them you want your airfare paid with your last paycheck

if they refuse to do that then i would call the labor board

Ask them will they pay everything on the last working day. If they say no or they don't know then tell them that you have to extend ur visa and that you won't be leaving the apt until pay is complete. Tell them they have to tell you when the final pay will be given as you can't buy a plane ticket until u know. Nice that they are letting you buy the ticket. You can buy a refundable one if ur not going home and they wouldn't know. Sad though you'll have to get an open date for departure. Do they even have that? Laughing
