My washing machine died today, it is a fitted one in a public school supplied officetel.
Who has to pay for this?

| I'd ask them to pay for it, seeing as it's public school housing. If it were your own housing, I'd say you'd be liable to replace it yourself. |

| In my experience, the landlord is responsible for appliances. They took care of a refrigerator and an air conditioner. |

If that was the case, I can imagine all sorts of manager putting really old equipment in apartments, knowing it would stop working in less than a month. |

Look up the GEPIK/EPIK contract
It's there.
Never heard of any managers working in PS either |

Usually it`s all used stuff. No brand new Dios or Hauzen. |

In case of moving, any cost incurred shall be borne by Employee if the move is due to Employee�s personal matter (e.g. marriage).
4. Employer may provide temporary housing until the appropriate housing for Employee becomes available. If Employer is not able to provide housing for Employee(or if Employee decides to find housing on their own), Employer shall provide Employee with 400,000 KRW per month, as a rent subsidy, in lieu of the housing set forth in the foregoing 1.
5. If Employer provides housing to Employee, Employer may provide appliances and furniture (refer to appendix 1). Employee shall not request or demand any other appliances or furniture than those provided by Employer. Employee shall take the responsibility for the maintenance and repair for the appliances and furniture provided by Employer.

When my range broke and I told the public school I worked at many years ago, the immediately scrambled to fix the problem, and later that afternoon, an ajosshi came with a brand-spanking new Rinnai to replace the crappy old one with char-black greasy spatter marks from 60 past users. As I saw the ajosshi peel of the protective plastic from the shiny mirror-like chrome steel finish from my new range, I thought that was very cool of them.
BTW that repair/mantain clause was also in my contract, so I will agree with the above poster that they might not be aware and to still try asking. |

Yep, the know, just got the call.... 
It is a nice new one, I wonder if it is under warranty?
If not, I just have to find a repairman.
It seems the pump is gone, it made a clunking noise when it went into the pump cycle. The rest of the cycle still works, but it wont empty.

new when it first goes in........but..............how many foreigners have used it before you is another matter |
