Hi I'm wondering if anybody knows any good goshitel/goshiwon options near Yonsei/I Dae/Hongdae/Sogang etc. Doesn't need to be terribly centrally located, but in the general area would be nice.

A 'guests OK' policy is a definite plus. A man has needs, does he not?

I know a good one on that main corner in Hongdae area along that parking lot road. You know where that cotton candy stand is with the big dog? It's kind of kitty corner from there. It's across the street from a building under construction, I think.

They're probably all no-guests-allowed, but will only make a big deal if you abuse it (ie loud conversations, sex noises, music).

It's going to be tough for you to find a good one.

I looked in the same area when I was taking language courses at Sogang. A "guests OK" goshitel was a must for me as well. After looking around a little, it seemed like I wasn't going to be able to find one. I ended up changing my mind and negotiating a monthly rate at a yeogwan (450-600 thousand in the neighborhood I checked out). Going that route has three benefits over a goshitel:

1. The room is bigger.
2. Guests are OK.
3. If you're really lucky, you'll find one with "mood" lighting (which kind of relates to 2).

Minuses:

1. No furniture for studying, and no internet connection (which affected me as a student).
2. Your guest may not appreciate being brought to a room in a yeogwan.

Think there's a lesser known one in HongDae across from that Castle Praha place. Be warned, however, that the words Goshiwon and nice should never be used in the same sentence for a reason. Might be worth a look if you're in the neighborhood, though.

There are others down the road from HongDae main gait. Head down the hill/alley next to where the Coffee Bean was across from the main gait (soon to be a different coffee house..there's a shocker). There are some Goshiwons and onerooms off to the right.

Thanks for the info everybody. I'll have to take a walk around the area, and see what I can find.
