Anyone interested in taking an intermediate level Korean language class at the nice library ten minutes walk northeast of Nowon Station? Or three minute bus ride. (No Won Jeong Bo Do So Guan, I think it's called.)

My two former fellow students of last semester won't be continuing for scheduling reasons. I'm loathe to give up this class because the teacher is excellent and for the first time in all my years here of piddling around with the language I'm finally making progress, which may be related to the fact that for the first time I've found a teacher who's a real language teacher and knows how to teach, combined with a class time and location that's convenient for me. But it's a lot easier and more fun with other students participating than going solo. Wink

The Nowon English Cafe in the lower level of the library runs the class. It's on Wed and Fri am, 10 am to 12 noon. They charge 20,000 won per month.

We broke for the Christmas through Sol Lal Holiday, and are planning to resume Wed Feb 4. If anyone is interested or has any questions about it, please feel free to pm me.

Well, I don't know how to peg myself other than Intermediate. I think maybe I understand 40% or so of conversations? Have had exposure to a fare amount of grammar patterns, but really need practice at a toned down level instead of out there on the streets. This class gives it to me.

We just started Easy Korean for Foreigners Book 2, published by Korea Language Plus. It's a green and yellow book. You can get it at the big Kyobo bookstore at Gwanghwamun (look underneath book 1; they're in a stack.) It has a lot of emphasis on oral practice. In a typical lesson, looking forward, I see that I already know a fare amount of the new words and grammar in this book, but there are enough new words and patterns that I need practice in that it's going to be a pretty fair choice for me, I think.

As I said, the teacher's good. And we would be flexible to include you if you are anywhere in the ballpark of intermediate. You may be higher or lower level than me, but we could just adjust a bit and learn from each other? (Beginner level wouldn't work)

So once you get your schedule squared away, maybe come and give it a try! See what you think.

I'm in Dobong and would be interested if my next term's schedule works out. I'd say my Korean listening skills are intermediate but my speaking skills are beginner.

Dobong's close. Might as well come and check it out. It could be potentially a little frustrating for you not being able to spit it out, but I have my days when the wheels aren't spinning too well though I'm understanding...
