Where does GEPIK value experience? If someone like fromtheuk has two years of total experience, both with GEPIK, and a 100 hour TESOL, then it sounds like they're entitled to 2.5 next year.
I'll be starting my third year with GEPIK, and fifth year of teaching, yet we'll make the same next year, even though I have two more years of experience? |

But are you fromtheuk?!!
I can understand your frustration.
I hope things will improve for everybody even more in the future.
I think it's because the other 2 years of your experience are not considered as having been acquired from 'accredited institutions'.

I stand corrected, 2.3 is better than 2.1 though.
Here is the text from Gepik:
CONTRACT UPDATED
There have been some confusion and misunderstanding regarding the eligibility for Category 1+ (see 21. Eligibility in the 2009-2010 Contract. )
In order to qualify as a Category 1+ teacher,
Category 1+
Category 1 AND Minimum two consecutive years of employment within GEPIK
one must have been a Category 1 teacher AND ALSO have the experience of minimum two consecutive years of employment within GEPIK.
Therefore, in order to qualify as Category 1+, one should have at least 4 years of full time English teaching experience as below
Category 1+
Category 1 AND Minimum two consecutive years of employment within GEPIK
(i.e. minimum of four years of full time English teaching experience as a Category 1 teacher)
All else remains unchanged in the Contract.
I think this means I'd need to wait 4 years to enter Category 1+, starting from the next contract i.e. when I'll become a Category 1 teacher.
Marvellous. I may be wrong about that (I hope so). Time for SMOE soon. |

i agree, they deserve it, maybe, but, I will have 5 years (starting my 6th) with a TESL, and then i too, will only be 2.5? you would figure with twice the experience, it might be worth something. i know for sure i am a lot better now than i was 3 years ago. |

Hey antoniothegreat,
I was emailed this by a recruiter. I can't vouch for its accuracy. EDIT Sorry... I thought I had the GEPIK, but I believe this is 2009 EPIK Payscale.
