| If I extend my current contract for an extra 2 months, do I get my severance at the end of the original 12-month contract or at the end of the 14 months when I leave? |

| You're supposed to get it within two weeks after your initial obligation is up. That's the law. Make sure you have it by your 54th week. This will give you an idea if your employer shoots straight. Next time you may be like me--looking down the barrel of an expiring visa and wondering if you're gonna be paid your bonus on time. Last year I was gracious enough to wait 2 1/2 months on my bonus. I won't be so kind this time around. If I don't get paid what I'm due at the end of this month, I'll have to get a visa extension, move into a hotel, and wait, and wait, and wait....And then I'll sic the labor board on them. You don't need it. |
