When I bought the Wii I had no idea that there were no other language options and that it would only play Korean games. Now i heard that it is possible to mod it to do both of those things. I also heard Yongsan Station in Seoul is the best place to get it done.

Is any of this information true? If so where is Yongsan should i go. I would like to hear from anyone who has actually bought a Korean Wii and modded it successfully. Thanks Wink

If you take it to Yongsan you can get it modded to play games from any region. Go to the video game seller area, all the shops offer modding.

I have heard you can also somehow get English menus etc, but it seems tricky, if it can actually be done. Look at it as a chance to learn hangul, that's my best advice. The menus aren't too hard to navigate.

Good luck.

The process to get English menus doesn't work on Korean Wiis. Modding it will let you play games from any region though.

Yes, it CAN be changed to English. I got a Korean Wii modded to English System Menu 3.2U (USA) last week from Yongsan. Plays all regions NTSC/PAL from the disc channel and NTSC wiiware and virtual console games installed from .wad files. The shop, forecast, and news channels don't work and request an update, but who needs 'em?

You have to use a program called Anytitledeleter to remove the Korean Mii channel so you can access the English one.

350k all-in with extra remote and nunchuck and a few copied games.

Wouldn't recommend doing it yourself though the process seems complicated. Goto the video game alley in yongsan and look for the booth called E-Trader. A friendly father-son duo they are Very Happy
