My contract is over and I have to move out of my apartment in two days. How long will it take to get my 900,000 won security depsoit back? They are coming to check the place in two days. I know they will also check for unpaid bills, but i just have a feeling that they may try and keep extra for themselves.
How long did you take to get your deposit back from GEPIK? I think it should paid back immediately. |

Schools are worried about unpaid bills that you left behind that won't show up for a month.
If your school doesn't give you the deposit back quickly, show them the typical amount of bills in the past and leave ONLY a reasonable amount behind to pay those bills if any should arise. Then call up and get your change later.
Good luck. |

I moved out of my apartment. Upon leaving my school's head teacher and I went through and noted every single won i owe them for bill payments and subtracted them from the total. When I asked when I should receive the remainder they told me they were not sure, but probably some time in March. They said the same about the severance package.
I was kind of stunned with their probably some time remark and asked for an exact date. I told her that i need the money to put towards key money for my new apartment. She told me she would call her supervisor and get to me. I never heard from her for a couple days now and when i call or text i get no reply. I will keep trying and give her until Monday to come back with an answer.
They were so pushy to get me to move out too. I moved out 5 days earlier than i was supposed to because they fed me a story that I had to move out or pay an extra months rent. I hope they don't pull any more tricks or feed me any garbage. |

I don't know about the 2008 GEPIK contract, but the 2007 one said (Article 17) that the total deposit must be repaid BEFORE the end of the contract. Of course they often don't let that get in the way of what they want to do! Try camping out in the school office or constantly contacting them ( both yourself & others) until they comply. Also, you can contact the Labor Board and/or GEPIK. |
