|
|
I was wondering where I could purchase a region free DVD player in either Incheon or Seoul. My laptop recently died, and I wanted something to do in my apartment until I find out if I can get it fixed. I have a lot of DVDs and I have the TV the school gave me, but no DVD player for region 1 DVDs.
Help would be much appreciated. Also, if my laptop is dead and Lenovo decides to be a bunch of asses, where is a good place to buy a relatively cheap laptop? |

Look around your local stores and jot down the brands and model numbers of the players you like, then do a search for DVD region hacks and look for your models. Not all players have reliable hacks available so search before you buy and make sure you find a hack for your exact model with lots of positive feedback. I've done two in Korea this way, mine and my old hagwon's. |

In my two experiences the guys at Yongsan and Hi-Mart knew how to enter the hacks. |

As usual for any electronics especially stuff that skirts copyrights Yongsan Electronics market.
My player is made by a Chinese company Paoview. You can find them anywhere in the market, primarly in the market next to Yongsan station (second floor). It'll play all formats of media (Divx, Xvid, Mp4 etc etc) plus DVD's of course, also has a slot for a USB drive to play media off off, a SD memery card slot for the same reason (all pic and vid formats ok) and two slots for karaoke mikes.
Lastly it's multi-current 100-240v
Very cool, only 100,000 |

That sounds absolutely perfect! Do they accept credit cards? I ask because I ampoor until I get my next paycheque.
This is really hopefully just something I can use for the next week or two until my computer gets fixed.
Anyways, thanks everyone. |

I bought one on gmarket.com for 40,000. It's nothing fancy but it plays my region 1 DVDs just fine. You can use credit cards and paypal with them as well. |

I got my LG DVD player here last year. The remote is all in Korean, but if you have a Korean explain it to you, you can reset the region to 0. You can also look it up online. To my knowledge, 0 is region free for all electronics. (I'm fairly sure you can set ALL DVD players to this, and don't need a specific one.) I've also set my computer to region 0 as well. Hope it helps! |
