The title is 영어 완전 정복 (gotta thank my gf for the hangeul stickers)
I am pretty dismayed at how the foreigners are portrayed in this movie.
From the beginning this idiot is asking, quite rudely, how they can fix his bill when the heroine obviously can't speak English.
Unfortunately I have a friend who commits a similar act as we go into a phone store and he wants to charge his T-money chip within it
Next, I see a bitchy foreigner teacher that can't speak Korean worth a lick. She gets emotional at her students often and quits her class. I don't know about most of you, but teaching adults is not that difficult IMO. Ugh. I'm getting sick of watching it. Back to the Baduk channel |

I'm sure we could make a good drama called Englishee Vampires. Korea's version of Twilight |

I'm pretty sure the point of the movie wasn't intended to put foreign teachers in a realistic and positive light :-p
You know, like the German couple in the movie Supertroopers, or the "techno twins" in that ATT Wireless commercial. You may not have seen the latter if you've been in Korea for a while >_> |

Doesn't that look more like "Get me out of this grammar class!" ? |

Ha. This is one of my favorite Korean movies. I agree it does paint foreigners in an absurd light, but show me one piece of advertising, media, etc. in Korea where we are not portrayed in such a fashion.
I still call that actress "Candy" to this day. I have no idea what her real name is!~ |

I think this movie was quite accurate. Badly dressed foreign teachers with awful Korean and miserable cringing students who can't take responsibilty for their own learning. Sounds spot on to me!
I get more bothered by the lousy acting of foreigners in these movies then the way they are depicted. Choosing such uncharasmatic and obviously amateur actors makes us all look bad. |

How can you call an actor an idiot? The guy gets paid to do what the director wants him to do.
Btw, you can see me (and about 30 Russians) in a skylife commercial coming out in about a month. The commercial has an Obama look-alike speaking and I'm sitting in the bleachers with a nice looking blonde.
Oh, and they didn't like his Korean pronunciation so the director called my wife and asked me to do a voice over a few days ago. Made 500K for that little gig. So don't believe it when you hear the pay is crap for TV spots, if you've got an F visa, you're valuable and you can get more money. |

For me the most interesting thing was the advice a student gave the teacher on her Korean. He told her banmal was rude that that she should finish everything off with "you". I was wondering why he said "you" and not "yo".
My gf told me that the student's accent was from outside of Seoul, Daegu IIRC.

The actor per se was not an idiot, but his character. Why can't I have an opinion of a character?

You really are lucky. If they were smart, they would have asked a local to do that! |

I told them the same thing. They did want a foreigner to pronounce the words, but they wanted the viewing audience to actually be able to understand what he was saying. |
