Oldfort: i've just arrived in Pusan this evening...heading out early tomorrow around the estuary and rivers hereabouts...
Until I purchase my expensive spotting scope and digital camera, I won't be able to take good pictures of birds of course... but I may pm you with a few pictures taken by my tour guide later...
A few suggestions of places to go...Joonam estuary, Upo wetland, nakdong estuary (all near Pusan). or, Guryongpo coast near Pohang- all good for migratory birds through the winter. If you're further north, try Seosan (nr. taean,), the Han/Imjin river estuary (nr. the DMZ), even the Hangang in seoul hosts a good variety of wildfowl at certain points like Onsu, Eunbong, or Seongnae...Get yourself a telescope and keep your eyes peeled for beautiful birdlife!!! Later, rapier

I am going to bow at the grave of my best friend's grandfather. Is anyone else doing anything traditionally Korean?

Wednesday I will be in the kitchen with my elder S-I-L and our M-O-L preparing food the ancestrial shrine set up the morning of solal. on solal we give deep bows to elder family members and envelopes of money to the younger ones, then we eat. after this roughly 2 hour ceremony, the nuclear families go their separate ways, ours will head for Lotte World for the day. I'll also be taking my boy to see Peter Pan sometime during the 3 days off.

Hey girls, do any of you know if there is a Mango store in close proximity to Sinchon (around about the Eday to Hongdae vacinities)?

Ody, there isn't one in sincheon. The closest one to you is the one near the hyundai department store exit of omokgyo station, just across the river.

Or the young plaza in euljiro 1ga.

Rapier, many thanks for the suggestions and offer. My mom is considering a round-the-world trip this year (she turns 50), so if she comes to Korea, we'll probably go birdwatching. Heck, they sound like lovely places to get away from urban stuff even if one (okay, I) is a really lazy birdwatcher. Also, I'd love to see the photos your guide took if you can send them, and would like to show them to my mom. She's pretty avid at birdwatching; has a scope but hasn't tried taking pictures with it as far as I know. I don't know which model she has, but it was highly recommended.

Cheers!
