Their target customer is probably young women trying to improve their own position in the work place. I remember another advert(maybe not Wall Street) but basically had a suggestion of possible romance between a young Korean lady and her handsome foreign teacher. Imagine their disappointment when they walked in and met Peter Griffin. There was also a sister advert which had a female teacher and male student. |

Exactly. Considering this ad to be a step forward for womens' roles in the workplace is like considering a beer commercial full of giggling bikini-clad women to be a step forward in female liberation. |

Better learn English). Is she a Korean or a foreigner? Oh, I am just giddy over all these possibilities! None the less, absolutely, big step forward. Now, when she's as old and ugly as the man I will hang up my hat and call it a day for feminism. |

What about the bikini Samsung phone. The phone wasnt anything like the models either. It was fat, wide and shiny. |

Tear it down. I would.
My school wallpapered a bulletin board by the English room with the phrase "ok ok ok." I tore it down and said it made us all look like fools. Nobody seemed to mind.
Hmmm...on second thought if it was super expensive you might get a foot in the ass. Hang a piece of paper over the "E" with the letter "A" on it. |

Really.. these things don't bother me anymore..
I just thought this was "Daves complaint forum" so I had better complain about something..
I really don't care anymore how many stupid mistakes Koreans make..
I have given up trying to correct and help them..
The don't want nor deserve to be corrected..
let them make stupid mistakes - and let us laugh at them
all they care about is their pride (so why hurt it) and their salary.. so we should all do the same - get our salary and seal our lips..
why bother even trying to help them- just get paid and shut-up basically...
keeps them happy and keeps us happy...? |

Apparently that bit is true.
One of my friend's works for a fashion company that just hired Jessica Gomez to model their jeans. She was at the shoot as she is one of the upper ups and the boss had signed the contract without meeting gomez apparently she'd porked up rather quickly and couldn't fit in any of the clothes, she had a spare tire hanging out. Not sure how they fixed that. |

| One school somehow got my picture and put it in their bus advertisements. I, and the school i worked for sued and won against them. They were ordered by the judge to close their website for two months, pay me three million Won, pay for a formal two inch apology in the newspaper to my former hogwan for misrepresentation. They did all that and went out of business about a year later. |

My school publishes its own textbooks. Mistakes in every other lesson, and this is one of the top hagwons nationwide. A simple spellchecker would catch half the mistakes.
The last mistake I noticed: coconut was spelled cocoanut. Interesting.
When it comes to learning English, Koreans have a uniquely backwards approach.
Can you imagine opening a Korean hagwon in, say, Canada, then refusing to let Koreans proofread, and having bilingual Canadians (with rudimentary Korean) run the show. Of course not! That would be absurd. We'd turn to the professionals and graciously ask for their help, thereby learning the right way to do things.
Thankfully Korea's got oodles of cash to give away to foreigners. Their unwillingness to learn properly will guarantee me a job for the rest of my life, should I want it. |

That's their main market - young women. The guys that go to hogwons go to meet women. |
